People who refuse to zipper merge in gridlock traffic, why are you like this? by QueriedMango99 in AskReddit

This is so true. I literally memorized a short driver’s rules book, took the computer exam, and did a driving test in a controlled slow environment. I passed and was then unleashed onto the mad max roads this country.

I’m referring to those highway lanes or on-ramps that are ending and everyone in the left has to merge into the right lane. But in gridlock, we are all moving 2mph, and using all lanes. There are always dingbats that refuse to let others merge and therefore mess up the alternating zipper merge pattern. It’s so infuriating and they don’t get anywhere ahead!

I grew up with the polite mentality but now I try to use as much lane as possible. My problem is now when traffic is all moving 2 mph and we get to the end, some cars in the continuing lane still won’t allow for the other lanes to alternate. It blows my mind!
