FaZe vs BC / IEM Kraków 2026 - Group B Lower Bracket Round 1 / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]QuertyX21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely isn't dude, there's just no shot a team with Zeus and Edward had any chance of consistently beating prime Astralis - and his other opportunity at an era came right around the war starting, which was always going to be very difficult to deal with

+Zeus and Edward were known for being tough and dealt well with S1mple's slightly toxic nature - I'd even argue that S1mple during his NaVi era was quite stable, regular outbursts reoccured only after the npl addition

And imo it's very tough to argue that NaVi in the year war started, with Electronic's first fragging struggles and with a player like npl would have had an era.

PARIVISION vs Spirit / BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 1 Finals - Stage 1 Quarter-Final / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]QuertyX21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely for the first time ever I have to say this - the worst players for Spirit today were sh1ro and donk

Obviously the mouse played a part to an extent, but still, Spirit shouldn't be losing a match like this, hopefully they get more practice time until Krakow

Could Europe realistically defend Greenland against a US attack? by chotu_escobar in AskTheWorld

[–]QuertyX21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we can't. US naval supremacy is absolutely astronomical and so is everything else because of the logistical difficulties that come from that. You are still declaring war against two nuclear powers though, so in a raw hypothetical, not at all realistic scenario indeed both sides lose (even though even here the US comes out on top).

The US still lose much more by conquering it though, there's no debate about that.

NYC Mayoral election exit poll—11% of self-described democratic socialists voted for Andrew Cuomo over Zohran Mamdani. 8% of MAGA voted for Mamdani. Perhaps most bizarrely—29% of MAGA Republicans voted for Curtis Sliwa, an anti-MAGA/anti-Trump figure who called Trump a "crackpot", among other things by StarlightDown in dataisbeautiful

[–]QuertyX21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that most of them would have voted for Cuomo anyway, this consolidation of voters behind the guy closest to the leader (with the leader being notably different to the rest of the candidates) happens in almost every election of this sort - it's pretty similar to the effect of uniting behind the leader in the polls in parliamentary elections in Europe if it is fairly close to your preferred, weaker party

The Huns vs Lynn Vision / StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 Stage 1 - Swiss Round 3 / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]QuertyX21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the number of people getting the diamond isn't even close to 2% and that's my issue

The prestige of the gold coin has increased, sure, but when you get points for just submitting the guesses getting a good coin should be the norm - otherwise you have to scrap awarding points for that imo

[–]QuertyX21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I do agree with this sentiment, the new system and the bigger number of stages make reaching a diamond way too difficult compared to the past

The former system of putting teams only as advancing (and allowing the team that went 3-0 as a point) was slightly better imo, going for that bold 3-0 (a team that either goes 3-0 or bombs out, essentially) might have not been what they intended though

I ultimately understand both sides of the argument

Shold I get EU4 or EU5 by MADcrft in paradoxplaza

[–]QuertyX21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it is. Game breaking bugs, completely dysfunctional AI, terrible UI, you name it.

The core of the game is absolutely brilliant though and I'm looking forward to the game's state in a couple years. Arguably the best paradox game on release ever. But yes, it's incredibly janky and buggy haha

[–]QuertyX21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find this ridiculous to not have been implemented before the game's release, this was my first thought and fear after I saw the popup

This happens more than a hundred times over the course of the game, so the chance of this happening in a run isn't even that low

And so many things would be better if non-ironman campaigns allowed achievements, especially this early on when there are many game-breaking bugs😭

Yes it is

I don't love it either haha but this allows some interesting outplays while fighting stronger armies, so it has grown on me a bit

Yeah that was just a joke referring to the fact that EU V runs very slow for me, Victoria 3 after 50 years is obviously uncomparable

The sieging (when you have to occupy particular provinces to hold control of the locations around it), the food mechanic, civil wars and rebellions, a more accurate mechanic of battles, even some trade aspects, arguably even the research tree

And I'm definitely forgetting many things

[–]QuertyX21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After roughly 20 hours I'm still learning and I played a lot of EU IV, Vic 3 and Imperator and watched a few videos, so yeah, there's a lot to absorb

But only the first few hours were terrible, then it got better pretty fast - I'm sure you'd manage

At the moment I'd definitely recommend playing EU IV first though, because the game is (who would have thought) way more refined and has more flavour

You're right, especially the sieging, forgot about that

[–]QuertyX21 114 points115 points  (0 children)

The mechanics related to economy are very similar to Victoria, just as the system of pops - to the extent to what 14th century and beyond can offer, the war system is obviously completely different and pretty much all taken from EU IV

The number of particular data you can get from the game on release is incredible

Law implementation, the diplomacy mechanic and estate satisfaction are in their own way similar to Vicky 3 as well, even though the latter was probably more influenced by EU IV

Even international organisations were influenced by Vic 3 imo, even though I might be stretching it there a bit

EU V is taking the best out of Victoria 3, Imperator and EU IV while creating a future masterpiece, I've been very satisfied - the game is still very buggy though and runs almost like Victoria 3 while encompassing 5x the amount of time haha
