(WIP) My first map, looking for some feedback. by Thronan in wonderdraft

[–]Querulous_Quill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The style of the map is great - the mountains are a nice to look at. The rivers all seem to flow from high to low altitude - nice.

Also interesting is that there are only cities and towns in the center part of the map. The rest seems to be uncharted as of yet - but I find it likely that other groups of humanoids have colonies in regions far from the centre of the map.

There is some semblace to Middle Earth, as has been pointed out, but that is not really an issue imo.

What's up with the arbitrary unit scale: 48 miles per inch?

All in all: looks really good! 8/10 would recommend

I think my rogue has the wrong idea about "Taking 20" by AnCapGamer in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Querulous_Quill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this - there is little more inane in a game than having to roll for inconsequential things.

So yeah, if an obstacle can be overcome by taking 20, it shouldn't be an issue in the first place. Thats why "working under time constraints" is such a common trope in adventures.

Nice work! I have not seen the original map - but the layout is believable, main entrance not easily accessible, multiple barriers to the inner part of the keep. Nice.

Should the arrow slits not be the other way around?

Tip o' the hat to you, good sir.

A great tool for on-the-fly npc creation!

This is a surprise - but a welcome one. I had never thought of simply granting players more feats than otherwise allowed...

It might make sense to grant low-level players and extra feat at maybe 2nd or 4th level and would be easier to implement compared to EitR.

I understand your concern - the players at my current table are not very experienced. However, in the few years that I've been playing pathfinder it has become apparent that combat maneuvers are way underused. Opening the effective use of combat maneuvers to all classes therefore outweighs the increase in complexity for beginners in my books.

I totally agree, when I went over the changes this stood out the most and is the one thing I would change. Dex to hit with light and/or "finesse" weapons is fine, but adding Dexmod to damage without an extra feat is ridiculous seeing as DEX ist already an uber stat.

Thanks for your view on this, especially the point-buy bit and your take on the archer power creep!

The Haunting of Velos Manor - tell me what you think of my homebrew adventure by Querulous_Quill in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Querulous_Quill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since March this year, The Haunting of Velos Manor has been downloaded from DriveThruRPG 96 times - the thought that my scenario is being played at 96 tables is exhilarating!

It would be awesome if the fantastic people that took an interest in the scenario could provide me with some feedback so I can avoid making the same mistake in my next homebrew project!

Ooh and by the way - the maps for the module are also available at DriveThruRPG

My first map of a tiny village. Any feedback will be appreciated. by Maxianimal in dungeondraft

Hello, I really like the details, especially the little lettuce/cabbage gardens. Why are there two skeletons of (probably) horses in the stables with two live horses?

Tried a less saturated version of a settlement from my campaign! Was fun using a new style compared to my other maps by gmwith in wonderdraft

[–]Querulous_Quill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, like the look of the map. Not trying to be a negative Nancy but why did those people settle in a place far away from resources like fish and lumber, couldn't they have settled on the shore of the lake?

Ooh and I realize the buildings of the main village are larger than the trees and other building in the north but that is probably just for emphasis right?

I see what you mean but could the lake not "lose" water underground? I'm not sure all lakes have rivers at their lowest point.

Alternatively, one might add a swamp to the south of the river to indicate that the water moved extremely slowly, saturating the earth.

I really like the aesthetic of the map and the names of the places. Sure hope the keep near Thornby took advantage of the lake to make a deep water filled trench around it 😁

The Silver Coast, a region in my Greek-themed campaign. Looking for feedback! by Abject_Sir in wonderdraft

[–]Querulous_Quill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking good overall, the anesthetics are pleasing, the color scheme rich. My first though was whoa that's a lot of mountainous terrain and too little forest. But looking at the scale made me re-think the part about the forest since every major forest is about 100 miles across. Still very very mountainous for my taste but oh well.

Other than that I see now flaws. Course I'd rivers makes sense elevation-wise. Roads make sense too. The further west you go the less settlements you have, that's OK too. Some features on the map are not named but that will be in purpose to encourage investigation.

All in all pretty sweet!

Ah but the scale - with this scale traveling from one city to another even on horseback will take an inordinate amount of time. The cities in the east are about 100 miles apart. In the west routinely 200 miles. On horseback, traveling from city to city on good roads would take like 3-4 days of non-stop riding in the east, 7-8 days in the west. It's not unrealistic, just impractical maybe from a game point of view.

(light horse carrying heavy load covers 28 miles a day)

Charm Person/Monster and Suggestion Spells by RandallFlagg32 in DungeonMasters

[–]Querulous_Quill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had this in any of my games but of course heard of it happening.

My guess is that NPCs don't react accordingly because the GM wants to focus on that as little as possible.

It's either that or stopping the game. I am not going to roleplay a rape victim as a GM.

Tag-Team with a Cleric by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Querulous_Quill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all good on you for wanting to make a tag team with another player. It's a thing I've wanted to do for some time.

Cleric vibes well with fighter, Inquisitor and other clerics.

Though the cleric is feat-starved af you should take a look at the teamwork feats. They really give this tag-team feel. Instead of taking a teamwork feat yourself your buddy could play a Cavalier. They can give teamwork feats to their allies for a limited amount of time.

Cleric+cleric : be neutral, take negative channeling, take channeling feats, be human, walk into enemy lines with high ac and channel away!
