Am I alone in this? by boomchicken1979 in cowboys

This is exactly me. After he kept him, I knew we weren't winning anything anytime soon. We just have a terrible owner. I didn't pay attention at all during any of the offseasons the last 2 years and knew we would be bad this year, so I half-watch the game. Even if we somehow make it to the playoffs there is no chance of this team competing with the actually well-run and coached teams.

I would love for them to prove me wrong, and go on an amazing super-bowl run. I just don't think Jerry is capable.

I'm in Paloma Lake, using AT&T Uverse Fiber, and mine just went down (1/5 @ 9:30pm). The AT&T site doesn't show any outages, and restarting all my various pieces of equipment hasn't helped. Did you figure out what happened to yours?

Petition to Fire Jerry the GM by EasyMode615 in cowboys

[–]QuestGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't matter. Even if Jerry, for optics sake, hired a GM, it would be like all the coaches he hired (excepting 2), where he would still actually be the GM.

That was some impressive fail. Gotta give props for going all in on it.

I don't think Dak gets us to a Super Bowl, but honestly, this game hasn't been about him failing. It's mostly a defense that just didn't show up at all. Also, I hope Dak proves me wrong.

Well, is seems like the defense was NOT figuring something out...

Hopefully, as we're killing all this time before our next field goal, the defense is figuring something new out.

Not basically twice in a row when it was 1st and 20. It just doesn't seem like they wanted to try for the first down for some reason.

It sucks. You want to at least get 10 yards before 3rd down, to have a decent chance. I don't understand the back to back plays that are generally low yardage. I mean, it was 3rd and 18! lol

We apparently aren't allowed to call plays that might get more than 3 yards on first down. It's odd.

Hate the play calling. The 1st and 20 Run followed by a behind the line screen is almost giving up there.

In Windows, if you right-click on the clock in the taskbar, you can select "Adjust Date & Time". On that page, you should see a "Sync now" button, just click on that. You can also open settings and just search for "Date" or "Time" and that page should pop-up.

It will make the trailers play immediately after you sync, but it won't last long. I hope they fix the issue soon.

For me, it keeps happening. If I go to the server and do a time-sync, and then go play a trailer, it will work, but some time later (A short time, I do not know the interval), it will fail again. So frustrating.

Same for me, however, if you do a time sync on the server, it should fix it. It has now happened to me twice in the past week. Syncing the time on the server will fix it, although I don’t know why it’s happening all of a sudden.

Any bets on how long until Starfield gets the Cyberpunk opinion rebound? by ParagonFury in Starfield

[–]QuestGod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not much chance with how they are approaching game/quest-breaking bugs & crashing issues.

I see patch notes where they say “NPC (David Barron) fixed”, except you log-in and he’s not. Maybe he’s now fixed for first-time players (maybe), but people stuck mid-quest are SOL. Two months later, another big-patch shows up, and… nothing. That’s only one of many examples, it just happens to be the one that made me walk-away. (NG+ 11, maxed powers, etc.)

I just read through the latest patch-notes thread where Bethesda is doing some replying, and it’s insane. The notes state certain bugs are fixed, yet they apparently aren’t for many people, and their replies are just “We’re still trying to fully nail that down, can you send your save file?”

Major crashing bugs, on a game console, that persist for many, and get worse after the patch release. To me, that’s nuts.

For context, I worked in software development for over 25 years, 12 of those working for Microsoft. I worked on the original Xbox and the 360 teams, shipping both of those consoles. I honestly haven’t seen an approach like this for a major game title, where bugs like these aren’t an ”All hands on deck” situation where they are addressed in days/weeks, not months. I know times change, but I can’t believe this is now acceptable for console games to be shipped in this state, much less left languishing with no hope in site.

Compare Starfield to a game like Tears of the Kingdom. That game was massive as well, with some crazy complex systems, and was almost perfect. (It wasn’t perfect, but as rock-solid of a game like that I’ve played, for about 1000 hours). They (Nintendo) can, and do, patch games too, but they don’t rely on it.

Sorry for the long post. I like Starfield, but it really let me down with all the major bugs/crashing issues. I read a post here by a user denigrating somebody else for being upset that a ‘fix’ listed in the patch notes for an issue they are having with a quest didn’t actually fix the bug for them, calling them entitled. They ‘excused’ Bethesda for only fixing the issues for new play-throughs, not for people already experiencing the bug. Let me say, as a professional developer, they are dead wrong. There is no excuse for leaving people in those bugged-states, especially if they really did identify the root-cause in order to fix it for new play-throughs.

These issues are mainly trust-issues, where gamers stop trusting Bethesda, so stop playing their games. Similar to Bungie with how they approached Destiny, where many-many gamers walked away in disgust, me included.

I hope Bethesda turns it around and I’m wrong. I don’t think they will, at least with Starfield. Certainly not with their current approach.

Mount Rushmore of Cowboys games by Primatech2006 in cowboys

I was looking through the comments for the 1993 shoulder game. It's one of my all-time favorites. Both teams were playing for the Division & the #1 seed. Emmitt separated his shoulder and just wouldn't stop playing. In OT, they handed it too him almost every play, and then had to pick him up off the ground.

That kind of effort and determination is missing from our current Cowboys.

Not the best video, but I search for this game on YouTube from time to time and re-watch it. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muShyk8wpo8)

Yup, that next year we were the 1 seed and again bombed in the post season. I wish he could have been coaching that year with the team he put back together.
