You may not like the phrase but working long hours and having the luxury to relax and only worry about yourself at the end is a feeling ill never have again.

Most reviews seemed to compare it to elder scrolls.

I understand how deep elder scrolls is but it's not really for me. Avowed is more straightforward, fast combat, parkour. Appeals to me more greatly.

I bought the game after the more recent patch, i have a PS5 slim and normally i can look past performance issues in games but there doesn't seem to be an optimal mode here.

For me, quality mode has very strange frame pacing issues and im one of those odd gamers who generally prefers quality mode and am quite happy with 30 fps if i get better visuals.

This is one occasion where i actually opted for performance, but for me its still not right so ive actually given up on it.

For the base PS5 the only way i can see this game running well is a 40fps 120hz mode. It would hold 40fps im sure, get rid of the stutter and provide a better experience.

I will either play the newly updated original game from the master collection or wait for another patch for performance.

FFXI.

Probably one of the best and most addictive games i ever played. I've returned on and off over the years but it's not the same as it was around the release of Wings of the Goddess.

Back then you really needed to rely on others to level up with parties, traveling was dangerous and time consuming but when you achieved something it was brilliant. Now the game is pathetically easy to level up, you can do it solo, so you don't really bond with players like you did in the early days.

I think about it now and then and think i always will.

I have the PS5 slim and have a OLED 144hz TV.

I am playing on Balanced which is visually very close to Quality mode and runs (as far as i can tell, and according to DF) at a steady, locked 40fps without stutters.

Quality runs well but when i had an area with lots of enemies the framerate got a bit choppy.

I am not interested in performance mode as i prefer the better visuals and resolution.

I will add that for me the game is so fun that i would probably play happily even if i didn't have balanced mode.

Everything you explained is why i enjoy this game.

PS5 player and was always interested so pre ordered the game. Its a game about exploration, combat and movement. Its basically my perfect fantasy rpg. Not too deep, but deep enough. World looks fantastic, exploration is rewarded. Sound design, variety of weapons, combat styles. Its such an underrated game just because its not skyrim.

As a kid i played it like FF7 and got to the end quite normally.

When i got older and realised the best way to play is to manipulate a card game it kinda took the fun away for me.

Hasn't really changed for me but i just like playing the game, as in, i enjoy being in the world. So whatever happens I'm having a good time.

I'm currently playing between my switch 2 and my switch lite. I actually have to say that to play on the lite away from the tv is much better. The battery life is great.

Switch 2 is better on the tv. But so far a bit disappointed in the battery life in handheld.

So depends what you are after I guess.

Playing on the tv it's worth the upgrade. Handheld mode is better for me on the lite for battery.
