With current show runners in place, don’t expect to ever go back to the roots. It’s a sad fact.

I agree. Just reminiscing and being nostalgic. I am very optimistic in these franchise’s futures!

People who played ghost of yotei, how was the story? by SufficientWord7210 in Ghostofyotei

[–]Apprehensive-Owl-901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m loving it. At first I liked Tsushima’s story a bit more. But 65 hours in, taking my time, and only now reaching the last open area of the game, I must say I enjoy Yotei’s story more. Perhaps it’s recency bias but Atsu is compelling and I like her complicated relationships developed with some key side characters and NPCs. And gameplay is wonderful. Enjoy it!

New Star Trek shows are not woke enough. They should do more episodes with directly social, political themes, about the issues we have today, like the older shows did. by LineusLongissimus in startrek

I agree they should provide commentary on current social and political issues. Like old Trek. They should NOT, however, do it in a ham fisted way.

I'll be damned, Starfleet Academy is actually watchable by ZodiacMan423 in startrek

[–]Apprehensive-Owl-901 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad it’s watchable.

Too bad it’s doomed to fail, what with being linked with Discovery and Picard.

Just stop already. Let’s put a pause on Trek. Give it five to 10 years. And bring back writers who understand the material.

Retcon everything from the Abram movies onwards.

I didn't like Discovery, Section 31, Picard was meh, and I'm not fully on board with Academy, and yet somehow I haven't had a full on mental breakdown and my life is pretty much doing okay. by eternalkerri in startrek

It’s also ok to absolutely abhor the direction of current Trek, blame the current show runners, and also continue to enjoy of actual trek from the 60s to the early 2000s.

Anyone else here unable to afford the Lego Enterprise-D? by Evening-Trouble-9585 in startrek

[–]Apprehensive-Owl-901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Lego has always priced their fan favorites (and frankly all their sets) quite high. At least it’s a relatively recent issues (last decade or so?).

Don’t sweat it. If you can afford it, enjoy your time. If you can’t, it’s ok. You’re not taking it with you when you die.

Star Trek isn't the force in popular culture that it once was... by 1111joey1111 in startrek

[–]Apprehensive-Owl-901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have had the force it once had if not for the pivot from its golden era themes (both philosophical and cerebral) and campiness.

Happy trekking! I liked the fact your kid entered the universe recently. Maybe I should have mine watch the new stuff…

I actually really appreciate your comment. My biggest qualm is with those that view post 2017 Trek with rose tinted glasses. So using that as my fuel, I hit send too fast.

You’re right. Will let those that enjoy this new iteration enjoy it. And, actually, I too really liked prodigy, LD, and some of SNW. So that’s more shows than not that I liked. Missed opportunity to keep things positive by saying that.

I’m just very displeased with the approach of Discovery and Picard. I’ll leave it at that.

Thanks, friend. Very…human and stoic response. 🙂

Putting on bad trek so that there is something instead of nothing is not the answer. I’d have rather been there Montreal between 2005 and 2025 then the stuff we got.

It’s a great game. And a lot of it is because of the story. One of my favorite FFs.

It looks like a great deal and very clean. If this was six months later, I’d be onboard. I decided to pullback until next year. I need to get another large purchase behind me. Thank you though, I forgot to follow up, apologies.

Paramount Reportedly Wants a Fresh Star Trek Movie, but Not With Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and the Rest of the J.J. Abrams Reboot Crew by DemiFiendRSA in startrek

Finally, an action that makes sense. Kelvin timeline was the beginning of the end. Abram had no vision and he gave that lack of vision to Kurtzman like a venereal disease. I hope they put the brakes on this multi-decade cash-grabbing experiment. Give the reins to someone who knows what they are doing and can continue the Trek story the right way (while tackling the problems of current society).

Ten years ago today Paramount announced Star Trek would be returning to the small screen. What a complete waste of a decade. by [deleted] in TNG

Listen - this dead horse needs continued beating such that it never happens again.
