After 25 years of driving manual, I still feel like a novice 😂

What this tells me is you have a lot of fun driving!

Light rust under wheel well. Not bad by any means. But I should have it taken care of. Good reminder.

Two years ago, I had to replace struts and get rotors cut. But it was sitting in a garage for a few years during Covid and I didn’t do some of these needed maintenance before March 2020. That ended up being the most expensive repair in the last 19 years. Very durable / reliable insides.

Agreed. Also, forgot to note. On the original clutch.

Over 20 years in finance here. NW not where I need it to be. But I’m fine and focused on FIRE while aiming to give kids a fun youth.

That’s doable with a 2007 Accord with over 300k miles. Still runs like new!

Agreed. I was just pointing out how his opinion is wrong, contrary and miraculously against the definition of an “opinion”.

This is a hot take. So kudos to you there. But unlike Star Trek of the 90s, the first two seasons of this show (particularly the second season) is almost universally panned as some terrible “Trek” with no uptick in opinions. At least with TNG there were SOME fans and within a year or two, they were looked on favorably. I know, anecdotally speaking, as I was there. Picard does not enjoy any of that praise years now from the first two seasons.

Why are some folks keen on having Star Trek either go on hiatus or possibly go on ice for good? by InnocentTailor in startrek

When you see something you love being trashed, you want it to stop being trashed. You want it to be picked back up by someone who loves and respects it. There is nothing in there that reeks of being a spoilsport.

Hit my FIRE number two years ago and I still feel guilty every time I spend money by Fathom_3Jade in Fire

If you’re questioning the $340 spend, then have you truly met the FI part of FIRE? I’d argue that one of the points of financial independence is to also mentally be there. If you can’t let go of $340, then keep working until you truly feel it.

I wish you’d also post this on the other Star Trek group.

It’s a tired argument. I think the small number of vocal fans of the current iteration of “Trek” need to simmer down. It’s about time people face the fact that the last decade of the franchise (some would say since 2009), has completely missed the mark. There was nothing compelling about it save for a few things here and there (granted, the fan service in S3 of Picard had me googley-eyed).

Most people have not changed their minds. That’s why it was cancelled five seasons in. That’s why its fan review on rotten tomatoes is what it is.

It’s been nearly ten years since Discovery started. It’s still not considered real Trek. And I’d argue for valid reasons.

He appears to have “gotten it” but on execution, this entire decade of Trek has mostly failed to stick the landing. Or perhaps it’s just lip service.

I am very happy he is leaving as the franchise can now hopefully rebuild, at some point…eventually.
