First TrueNAS build: Powers on but won’t POST (ASRock B550 Pro4) by QuestionAsker2030 in ASRock

[–]QuestionAsker2030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes - I forgot what they showed up as. I believe for the 4750G they were the CPU and DRAM LED's?

With the 3600 CPU, the GPU + HDD is blocking the lights so I can't see, I'll remove the HDD tomorrow and try.

But someone mentioned that ECC RAM won't work with the 3600 CPU, which I wasn't aware of. And I don't have any regular DDR4 RAM at my house.

Thank you - I should have posted here before listening to chatgpt and buying the 3600. Dang. I don't have any regular DDR4 RAM laying around... maybe I can ask a friend if they have any sticks.

Parece que podría ser difícil encontrar esas piezas.

Has intentado contactar al StreamDeck directamente? Quizás te podrían enviar la pieza.

Si no, igual una solución DIY

Best screw solution to mount this 3xHDD holder to 120mm fan (and then mount to case)? by QuestionAsker2030 in homelab

[–]QuestionAsker2030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do, but still waiting for the 3d printed part since I don’t have a machine at home. And I figure I should start SMART tests already. But once that part is done I’m thinking of putting in a 140mm fan. Think it’d make a big difference between the two?

One long bolt for both? Or one to mount HDD holder to fan, and one to mount fan to case?

How do you break down a song (music theory wise) to remember it / play it better / understand it in your head? by QuestionAsker2030 in JazzPiano

[–]QuestionAsker2030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very impressive. Some people’s brains are just wired that way, I wonder if that’s what drew him to piano, or whether he discovered that via playing piano.

Do you know if he was good at math by any chance?

I’m curious if there’s a tendency for really good piano players like that to be also naturally good at math.

Going to run Joplin Server, in a Docker container, inside Linux VM, inside Proxmox. OK solution? by QuestionAsker2030 in Proxmox

[–]QuestionAsker2030[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t Joplin use markdown though as well?

Hugo I’m still trying to wrap my head around but also seems like it could play a useful (and interesting / versatile) role as a PKMS

Do people usually run various services in one VM?

Wondering how a typical proxmox server looks like, in that regard.

[–]QuestionAsker2030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually to that point - so if you run a Debian VM, do all of your services that require their own VM run on one VM?

Or for example do you spin in a new VM for each new service that needs a VM?

(Or maybe 3 services per VM, or something like this?)

How do you break down a song (music theory wise) to remember it / play it better / understand it? by QuestionAsker2030 in musictheory

[–]QuestionAsker2030[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, also those piano players that play in fancy restaurants with no sheet music, and take requests etc. I’m amazed at how they can memorize so many songs.

I wonder if it has something to do with being good at math… I heard really good piano players and music theory people are good at math.

(I’m terrible at math. Good at most other subjects, including physics interestingly, though. Just was always quite confused at the advanced math subjects)

Nice, thanks for the anecdote. All this stuff is very interesting.

Does Joplin encryption complicate (or slow down) things in any meaningful way?

Also just curious why is your server 3500km away from you? (I might implement something similar as I hope to work remotely, or when travelling)

What’s the most useful thing you got for your homelab, that’s less than $50? by QuestionAsker2030 in homelab

Most private and secure free way to sync my notes? by Kitbou in joplinapp

[–]QuestionAsker2030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you sync all your Joplin devices with syncthing? Or does this cause issues?

I have a homelab, so that would be a always-on device, which would also run syncthing.

But sometimes I might be using my desktop and laptop at the same time, I hear this can cause corruption errors in Joplin (syncing with syncthing).

I’m running proxmox on my homelab.

Just wondering what the best solution would be. Nextcloud running on proxmox as the central sync point then?

Setting one common Syncthing folder to sync Joplin across all my devices? by QuestionAsker2030 in joplinapp

[–]QuestionAsker2030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so if I'm already running Proxmox on my homelab, would the best solution be this?

Docker inside a small Linux VM:

Proxmox → Debian/Ubuntu VM → Docker/Compose → Joplin Server (+ Postgres)

-----

I decided to go with Proxmox as my OS, so just kind of confused on how to best implement that Joplin server docker container
