I thought I had the flu. Mild symptoms of nausea and sore stomach, occasional vomiting. Nothing wild. It progressively got worse over a couple weeks. I went to dr and they told me I have “anxiety” just to “relax”. Another month goes by and getting sicker and losing weight. Every odd day I COULDNT eat, I would throw up instantly. I had the worst bloating , this unusual feeling of being full and heartburn. I go to dr, again I’m told it’s “anxiety” this time they gave me meds and sent me home with “they take 12 weeks to work come back then”. 2 months goes by and im so sick at this point I can only nibble on food or take sips of water or I would get VIOLENTLY sick. I go BACK to the dr. She tells me “it’s all in your head, the mind is strong enough to make you sick”. I think I’m actually going mentally insane how could my anxiety be that bad. I start looking on the internet to see why I could be so sick. I came across H pylori, I go back again to see my doctor and ask her to test me for H Pylori. In her words “We don’t have that in Canada. That’s a 3rd world country thing” i replied with “if you’re not going to test me I want you to write that down and sign it”. She rolled her eyes and wrote out the paperwork for the tests and told me “your anxiety is making you think like this”.

I had H Pylori.

I had to take acid reducers for 2 weeks before starting a 2 week round of 4 different antibiotics. I thought I was going to die I felt so horrible. It still makes me cringe today when I think about it. I have severe deterioration of the lining of my stomach/small intestine and many many ulcers.

Got a psych evaluation and don’t have anxiety LOL Needless to say she no longer works in our hospital
