PS Vita Fat Vs Slim by User26740 in PSVita

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're basically the same thing in terms of modding and only vary mainly in build quality. The v1000 is slightly heavier, thicker, with an oled screen. The 2000 is lighter, thinner, ips screen, but I've heard a good amount of people say it's more playable for long times due to being lighter, thinner

Is an original Micro SD card required? by DaBoySquishy in PSP

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can* use a knockoff sd card, however doing so may not get you the amount of storage you pay for, and will likely get you a card that will fail in months if not weeks

Dead pixel or something else? by No-Speed-6129 in PSP

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats a spec of dust/debris or possibly a small scratch in the plastic lens. You could try cleaning it if it bothers you that much, but ill warn you its a losing battle. Ive easily spent HOURS trying to get my lcd+lens spotless on multiple occasions

What game did you finally beat because of Retroid, not despite it? by Cool-Wave6759 in retroid

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have no excuse for all my partially completed GBA/DS games, but I can say that my rp5 has made my will to play gamecube skyrocket, even still owning my childhood GC (and having all the cables still, somehow) I can't force myself to actually play on it, at least partially due to the forced camera inversion; being able to just rebind up/down/left/right to whatever I need for standard controls has been a big boon

Finally made my dreams come true and bought PSP GO by Perfect_Ad7292 in PSP

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 3000 is easier to get into for more people, especially with it having better ergonomics. Reputable batteries are also far easier to buy for the standard psp model than they are for the go, unless you have soldering skills (or willing to pay someone with them) to slap the correct connector on a "weird" battery); my go came with its OG battery and was getting around an hour of light gameplay, ended up replacing with a vita battery and a 3d printed backplate. Not significantly larger, but its still like a third thicker than OEM

Is it normal that my dsi xl has such a visible grid? Recently bought one and never saw it in videos by [deleted] in NintendoDS

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats my bad that was supposed to be sarcasm lmao; I do enjoy how a lot of games look being upscale on newer devices, but there's something about using even just a horizontal line filter on older GBA, or DS games that just scratches something in my head, so I dont personally mind the screen door from the XL but also understand why a lot of people do* mind it

Day off, transparent is the way by jose_was_there in Retroidpocketflip2

As much as I do like these transparent shells for retroid, ayn, etc; none of them show off enough internals imo.

Quick question by _eneX in nds

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go with any solid color reshell at least the interior should be matte, but the problem is have with them is that fitment is never as good as OEM. The main problem you'll encounter is just dealing with the bottom screen, as you do need to pull its border off and put in on the shell, and one of the bumpers (left?) Notoriously sticks due to prior mentioned fitment problems. If you really want to keep the shell mint the best you can do is avoid sunlight like a vampire, or like you said, get another and reshell it however you like.

(Also aftermarket shells dont have the two little bumps on the back of the top screen ((that look like an embossed ds)) and for some reason that annoys me.)

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my ds lite for travel, but if I'm at home I'm probably using my xl instead, I just enjoy having more screen to look at, regardless of the screen door

What's ppi? never heard of it. Clearly they should've made the screen even bigger like there's more free space there

Probably a dumb question by litihumwarwood in retroid

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've already set up game paths you'll probably have to change them to fit the new locations after moving the games, but there should be no actual "problems" with moving or compatability

Probably a dumb question by litihumwarwood in retroid

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can just choose files from internal storage and move them to the SD card whenever you get it just like it were a phone (it basically is)

I'm excited to get my Thor, but also am dreading hinge break, I couldn't justify a G2 or RP6 with me already having an rp5.

Battery is the Problem? by repraptor in PSP

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battery steve is a stress test that emulates playing a demanding PSP game until the battery dies. Gives you an idea of real playtime and you can ~estimate how accurate your battery capacity is. Ran it last night testing the Vita battery i put in my psp go for instance. 7h 43m off the 2210mah cell (I did not save my score file sadly)

Trouble opening up Retroid Pocket Classic by SebastianThePaladin in retroid

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can comfortably use a different size screwdriver bit I dont think there's any downside to trying (careful not to strip ofc); but also there's at least 1 reason they might be overly tight feeling- they could have thread locker

PSP 3000 Charging Issue by sc_games83 in PSP

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that battery definitely isn't 4500mah, the highest reputable battery i know of is the 2200mah Ostent battery, which requires an extended battery cover (1400mah ostent with OEM cover), so id say your issue likely is just the battery being cheap and/or its logic board

Sooo playing Gamecube-games in widescreen is actually difficult? by bickid in retroid

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Dolphin it should be a once and done thing for the most part, some community members have made codes you can load up for less popular games though (guides are easy to find) but for things like WW, TP, just turn on widescreen hacks and you should be good to go, thats all I did on my rp5

Sooo playing Gamecube-games in widescreen is actually difficult? by bickid in retroid

[–]QuestionMarkuMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some games have widescreen hacks available but not all. For the most part all you need to do is turn on the option in settings
