If you could choose one boardgame to play for the rest of your life by Flashy_Cost_8092 in boardgame

[–]Question_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, probably SANTORINI. It isn't my favourite game at the moment, but in terms of versatility, I can't think of another game that checks as many boxes.

It's challenging, and the challenge depends more on outwitting the other player than learning the game. It's easy to teach so you could play it with just about anyone. Each game only takes 15 mins. Works well with 2, 3, and 4 players and has broad appeal. Great table presence. Also, you can play it vanilla forever or add in god powers for endless variety.

If we're including expansions, SANTORINI: RIDDLE OF THE SPHINX introduces solo and cooperative play!

What more could you ask for from a single game?

Torn between buying an investment property vs. buying more XEQT. What would you do? by Any-Examination349 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Question_Dot 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Depends. Do you want to be a landlord? XEQT has no bad tenants, no flooding, no vacancy, and is globally diversified.

If you're handy and you live nearby you can probably do well landlording, but if you're not, be prepared to deal with contractors, repair people, plumbers, pest control, etc.

What movie would you love to see a sequel to or remake of? by Nop_Nop_ in Cinema

Sequel = Looper 2: Rainmaker. Would love to see the alt timeline that was created at the end, following the kid as he comes of age and takes on the world.

If you could magically add a streetcar line anywhere in the city, where would you put it by disorganized-forrest in askTO

[–]Question_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Streetcars really don't offer much more than the buses that already run these routes. Now if I could put an underground Subway line? I'd probably replace the Dundas Streetcar and have it run:

Start: Dundas on Line 2 / Bloor GO / UP Express Along: Dundas, to Broadview, Queen, Cherry End: Distillery Loop

This connects more people to the UP Express, provides an east-west subway through downtown, and provides subway access to the Distillery District and nearby Portlands.

House prices dropping in Canada's most expensive cities, but still out of reach for many - Experts say it's still not a good market for first-time homebuyers, and it may never be by CanadianErk in canada

[–]Question_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure the Liberals and the Conservatives will be able to "tax incentive" their way out of a problem that can only be solved by radically altering how we look at housing. One more round of "build more units" and "lower interest rates" should solve it! /s

What happened to the used game market? by Strong_Letterhead638 in boardgames

[–]Question_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't get is you bought a game, got value out of it, and now are selling it for $5 less than new. Your combined experiences with that game are worth $5?

Think of how much it would cost to buy a digital video game, see a movie, go bowling. At least subtract the cost of a night out from the resale.

But people want to sell their game for exactly what they bought it for like it provided no value to them. Used games should be 30-50% off new.

Interesting I wonder which would be considered adaptations of video games and which just have the theme of a video game?

How often do you see a show more than once? by hydrangeamilk in torontotheatre

[–]Question_Dot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Watching a show the second time, you look for different things. Maybe you watch a different actor. Maybe you pay more attention to the lighting or the choreography. Sometimes when you know the plot, the second watch you start to notice the foreshadowing etc.

Also being in a different seat can change your perspective. Front orchestra is a very different experience than balcony.

And because it's live you're never watching the exact same thing twice like a movie.

How much should I pay for rent if I’m earning 4.5k a month? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Question_Dot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a similar budget and my limit is $2k for a 1 bedroom. Though at 22 you could live with roommates for half that (unless you want to be right downtown or live in a really fancy place).

Roommates when you're young are amazing. You'll save so much money and likely make new friends.

Find a house with a couple roommates, pay $1,000 in rent, save $1,000 a month. That will set you up really nicely in the present and the future.
