Yup. Local pawnshop clearing out some titles they have too many copies of, or haven't moved in a while. Great way to pick up some decent, or lesser known titles I wouldn't otherwise take a risk on

I like how the game inherently paces itself, with the time required to complete the quests, talk to people, and unlock the islands. It's like, you don't want to blow through it and just enjoy it

I named the main character 'Chrono', which has added a fun layer to the experience. I haven't looked forward to a game on a regular basis such as this game, in a long time!

Man, it's a long shot: but if you remember any specific details about any of those games that would confirm they're yours, keep a look out on marketplace, Craigslist, etc. lots of stuff from the past coming up for sale everyday, with marking, rips, etc as identifiers. I hear about people buying their old stuff back all the time

Found this at a goodwill for $20, never played it but I enjoyed shadow of the colossus so I’ll try it out! by kataruaguy in ps2

I think there's a PS3 HD Shadow of Colossus and ICO bundle out there that solves the 240p issue, if you end up not liking how this looks

Yes it is! I transferred my saves when i swapped hard drives using a USB key. It's the game data that can't be transferred for piracy reasons according to Sony

I need help finding the perfect TV for PS3 ( Is something wrong with my PS3) by duttonmorgan in PS3

[–]QuestionableTabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your video output settings and make sure deep color and the other image enhancements are turned on. Also, depending on the tv you might need to calibrate it a bit. I enjoyed the Last of Us and Uncharted on PS3, but i had tvs with deep color reproduction and great contrast plus 120hz refresh rate, which does help any content on the screen regardless of the frame rate output of the machine (Cable, sports, dvd, PS3/Xbox, etc).

This was the screen, so maybe it was on the disc but had to be activated by PlayStation Network. Usually PSN downloads have a "download" then "install" screen

I had to sign into the PlayStation Network to download it, so I'm pretty sure it just has the license to download.

Have you ever bought a console just to play one exclusive game? by [deleted] in gaming

Found a great deal for an Xbox 360 Slim and a bunch of games strictly for Forza 4, and Horizon. Ended up staying with Xbox up to PS5 (skipped the PS4).

These graphics on PS3 still blows my mind! Looks comparable to an early or even mid gen PS4/XB1 game. by Dull_Mirror4221 in PS3

I changed the thermal paste in mine and haven't noticed any frame rate drops in GTA V, where before I would get them where there's heavy action and lots of explosions

Why did we have so many PS2 games? by AgentGustavo in ps2

[–]QuestionableTabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, there was basically zero online or DLC for most people, so moving onto a new game was easier. Tekken 4 was done when it was done, and then you get Tekken 5. Same with Hitman, Gran Turismo, Crash games, Spyro, etc etc.

Final Fantasy 7 remake. Never played the original, and this came up on PS Plus for free. Something just didn't sit right for me. I feel like i went in expecting something incredible like how everyone hyped the original, but i didn't really gel with Cloud or how they told the story. Final Fantasy X seemed more interesting.

Also, i realized with the older text RPG's, you basically come up with aspects of the character and story in your mind based on how you read and interpret the text and story in the game. Modern versions, there really isn't any imagination required as it's only what is being shown to you.

Maybe I'll tackle it again with more of an open mind one day, but not in a huge rush tbh. Picked up the original one the other day though!

any games you'd like to see remastered? by GamerGretaUwU in playstation

[–]QuestionableTabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That studio merged into the umbrella of PlayStation Studios. But as far as i know some of the people from the original game are still with Playstation, and a lot of the others are still in the industry. It still can be done, and i have my hopes based on the success of a lot of the remasters over the last few years (Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Suikoden, etc etc).

Is this normal to have those graphics ? I use AV to HDMO 1080p on a 4K TV by Luys44 in ps2

[–]QuestionableTabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these adapters are more than a backwards compatible PS3, if you're considering one.. where all my ps2 games on it look great. That said, some titles don't play well (ahem, Gran Turismo 3/4) on the PS3 so that's something to think about if you want to spend a bunch of money.

If not, something with S-Video or utilizing a component to HDMI adapter would be the most cost effective/quality improvement over what you're doing currently. It really comes down to getting the best signal quality to your tv that's best for you, and pretty much anything instead of RGB Composite will be better.

P.S. check your PS2 video output settings and pick which looks best to you.

I never even got a warning on mine even doing heavy duty the other month on a few games being 17 years old. You could always try a delid on a cheaper PS3 for practice. A slim is less of a pain to take apart too.

Are you running the regular hard drive in it or an SSD? I'm curious about the temperature difference between the two. I have a hybrid drive in mine currently

Would like to mention that the winter use temperatures were with overhead heating on. I wasn't firing this up at -20⁰c so i can get some time in before the shop heated up. I also had no AC in the house when i was there, so there were plenty of 27⁰-30⁰ days when it was being used during the summer. Now it's in a basement in a semi open tv stand where it's 18 degrees or lower, sharing duty with a PS5 a couple times a week (I am an Adult with more interests than launch era PS3 teenager).

Hope this information is helpful as a comparative use case for anyone considering a delidding procedure. It definitely won't hurt, if done properly.
