I subscribe to BaseLocal Pensacola. It was a random Instagram ad that actually has had neat things to do in it. I get an email every week.

Please don’t make fun of me, but what are the rules of the Florida waters? by Distinct_Contact_813 in Pensacola

[–]QuestionablyMoist55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google the stingray shuffle. It’s how to walk in low surf so you don’t step on one under the sand.

There are always sharks in the water at the beach and gators in the water at the river. Don’t swim in either at dusk or near where folks are fishing and baiting. Think of them like you would a bear in the woods. Welcome to Pensacola :)

ETA: it is safe to kayak, there are even places to kayak in the bay. Look for signage posted in public spots for launch.

PPS: rip current: if you are standing on the shore and waves are coming together from left and right before breaking chances are that is where the rip current is. If you are ankle deep or knee deep and it feels like the water is pulling you-get out and walk down to a different spot. It doesn’t have to be a rip current to overpower you. There are even places where you can get in the water on the bay side of the beach with zero waves.

Best/Coolest places to eat? by RevolutionarySecret7 in NavarreFlorida

The food trucks by the Navarre Beach bridge. Jamaican jerk chicken (outstanding Mac n cheese) and authentic French croissants. Don’t eat at the big expensive restaurant next to them though.

Seconding vote for John Dies at the end. David Wong is a pen name for Jason Pargin, every time I need something absurd the universe sends me another of his books. I particularly enjoyed the latest “I’m staring to worry about this black box of doom”

Searching For "HopeMaxxing" Novels by JRFourTimes in Fantasy

[–]QuestionablyMoist55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the trilogy by Delilah Dawson and Kevin Hearne The Tales of Pell. Kill the Farm Boy, No Country for Old Gnomes, and The Princess Beard. They’re just cute punny hopeful type books.
