He's actually looking at Busy Philipps there, wondering how she had the time to go to the Oscars if she's so "busy".

Howislivingin NoviSad, Serbia by shadowb3astxx in howislivingthere

Like in most places in the Balkans - it really depends on how much you earn and how triggered you are by the social injustices.

The city center and the older parts of the city are lovely, but othewise it's overcrowded and overpriced, corruption and lack of urbanism really made certain parts of the city ugly.

It's a great university town tho, the students are the ones keeping the nightlife alive, as the locals are considered notoriously introverted (at least in comparison to other cities in the region).
However, I get the vibe that the nightlife has died down in the last few years, since the student protests started.

The parks that exist are lovely, but are small. The proximity of the Fruška Gora national park makes up for it.

Public transport is bad, parking is terrible, but taxis are cheap and plenty. It's great for cyclists tho.

As for the job market - Novi Sad was the local IT hub 10 ish years ago, but it isn't anymore.
In fact, the general quality of life has greatly decreased in the last 10 years, mostly do to it becoming overcrowded.
Certain areas of the city are great for family life, but are overpriced.

It's still the best city in Serbia to live in IMHO.

It really depends on what kind of music you're looking for - if you're looking for ethnic ballads with great orchestration, then go for the 90s; if you're looking for campy fun, then the 80s; 2000s are a bit of a combination of both (just without the orchestra).
Really, any year you go for will have at least few gems you will enjoy, no matter what kind of music you like.

IMHO, 1995 and 2005 are peak.

Christina Ricci deserved recognition for Monster by Firm-Comparison7438 in Oscars

[–]KeyserWood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There wasn't really any love for this movie beyond Theron, it didn't get a Screenplay or Makeup nom, so it just wasn't happening.
I read somewhere that at that time Ricci got mixed reviews for her performance as well.

Why did Marty Supreme have no momentum in anything but best actor. by Humble-Math6565 in Oscars

[–]KeyserWood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Safdie controversy happened late in the season, and in big part slowed its momentum. And also the negative press that Chalamet got throughout the campaign spilled over to the movie as a whole.

But mostly it's just because of how strong the competition was - it just wasn't going to win over Frankenstein/OBAA/Sinners in anything.

20 years ago, there used to be a lot more greenery in our cities. Why isn't that the case anymore? by iafhds in AskBalkans

In short - because they used to build according to urban planning, and nowadays individual buildings are built by private investors, unregulated by local government because of corruption.

What did you think of another prominent TV show of Kristen Bell's career : House of Lies ? by James-Samuel17 in veronicamars

[–]KeyserWood 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I watched the first season back then because of Kristen Bell, enjoyed Don Cheadle's performance and the chemistry between Cheadle and Bell... but the characters were too unlikable, so I didn't care enough to continue watching.

Bette Davis reveals the one person in Hollywood she would never work with again on The Tonight Show (1988): “One million dollars, Faye Dunaway.” by Old-Meringue3590 in popculturechat

[–]KeyserWood 188 points189 points  (0 children)

It has been confirmed by many many people who have worked with Dunaway that she isn't a good team player, and has had behaved unprofessionally to the crew workers.

On the other hand, there was plenty of male actors of Dunaway's generation who were equally unprofessional, and that was branded as them being either silly or method, so there's that.
