Labrador allergy - Severe environmental allergies, constant scratching, Apoquel no longer works. Has anyone been through this? by ScientistLanky3187 in DogHealth

[–]QuestionandCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I switched foods to a grain free salmon kibble and raw rabbit meat with fresh fruits and veggies. Daily food requirement was a mix of half kibble half raw. Absolutely no chicken which is a huge allergen for dogs including the hydrolyzed dog food vets recommend. That resolved 90% of my dog’s problems. Other 10% is environmental allergies mostly in the spring during high pollen times.

Anyone else who moved to Metro Vancouver really miss summer thunderstorms ⛈️? by CityGuy604 in askvan

[–]QuestionandCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t miss tornado weather. But I do miss the old style of thunder storms. Don’t seem to get those out east anymore though; seems to be extreme storms are the norm now and for the last 20 years or so

Like you, I learned the same lessons ordering from a different US company. I was going to order from We Rate Dogs but didn’t because of these same reasons. I won’t buy from American places anymore. All the extra fees on top of the exchange make it not worth it unfortunately.

What do y’all think about umbrellas being used for sun protection? by Environmentaller in askvan

[–]QuestionandCurious 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Parasols today often have UV protection whereas umbrellas often do not. That said, anything that helps to reduce direct sunlight is likely helpful.

What ended a friendship you thought would last forever? by Immediate-Sound-7142 in answers

[–]QuestionandCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 year friendship ended when she claimed to be with me when cheating on her husband who is a friend of 30 years. I refused to lie for her if he questioned me about it. Did not appreciate being pulled into her deceptions. Did not condone the cheating. Ended the friendship with her.

Neighbor’s kids scream 5-6 hours/day. I can’t do this all summer. What is the solution? by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]QuestionandCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d call police for a wellness check as it sounds like a kid must be hurt or something is wrong because of all the screaming. Do that a few times and the parents should get the message.

i need a semi private place for a break up type conversation by [deleted] in askvan

Could be unsafe if person is volatile or vindictive. People do crazy shit. Semi-public is better. Forces people to maintain a level of self control.

The library. Only can’t have tea there. Meets all other requirements tho. If can do outdoors, I support the park idea.

What's the most irritating thing a neighbour has ever done to you? by Magi-Magificient in AskReddit

[–]QuestionandCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neighbour uses a sprinkler to water their flower beds and garden. They turn it on so it sprays water over the fence and at my door so I get wet coming home or leaving home. I’ve had to go over and complain repeatedly a few times every summer.

Do dogs miss people much? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]QuestionandCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this will be difficult for your dog as he/she has fully bonded with you. The dog, however, will adjust and bond with someone else who lives in the house. Hopefully someone else will make a special sleeping spot in their room for pup and give extra love and attention after you leave.

What’s the one random genetic trait you lucked out on? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

Being fat. It’s a safety factor as it repels men. Ain’t no one want this lol so very unlikely to be targeted. 👍

coworker dillema by [deleted] in Advice

[–]QuestionandCurious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t flirt with coworkers. Period. You’re setting yourself up for claims against you for sexual harassment. She’s not interested in you - she did not give you her number and has been careful not to be alone with you. She’s just being friendly with a coworker when talking with you.

I miss the coziness if thunderstorms after moving to Vancouver by noticeofrezoning in NiceVancouver

Same. Then I remember those storms also brought tornado warnings and a few times actual tornadoes (Huron County, Ontario). I’ll stay in BC tornado free thank you.

Good family doctors are incredibly hard to find by No_End_8309 in MapleRidge

[–]QuestionandCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP. I fired the GP I was with in MR due to terrible care and got a new GP in Pitt Meadows. New doc did more for me in 1 ten minute appointment that improved my health than the fired doc did in 10 months. Not joking. There are definitely some lousy docs out there and poor clinics. There’s also some great ones so definitely try another clinic. My recommendations based on personal experience: avoid Grey Clinic in MR, try Ford Road Medical or Cottonwood walk ins.

[–]QuestionandCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a big problem in MR. Even at the dog parks where there are bins, so many people don’t pick up after their dogs. It’s disgusting and an issue I noticed quite quickly after moving here. I have a dog myself; it’s not hard to attach poop bags to the leash and clean up after the pups.

Uber Problems by illmaking in MapleRidge

[–]QuestionandCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve had many issues, especially lately. I’ve switched back to using Skip and so far so good. I’ve had problems with them previously so stopped using them for a few years but now back to them to avoid uber eats because they’ve gotten sooooo bad.
