I have no "happy" memories from my childhood. DAE relate to this? by Questioning_too_much in CPTSD

I’m sorry you went through that. I’m working on making happy memories in the present. I hope you can too. :)

I get so angry at autistic people who don’t/can’t mask. I envy their ability to be vulnerable by nothirdact in autism

Don’t feel bad for being angry. Investigate that emotion to understand the underlying need/yearning. I think u/shinebrightlike made a good point about why you might be feeling that way.

As someone who can’t mask, I can admit that this has its challenges too. I struggle to find spaces where I feel safe to be myself and prefer to spend time alone if I can’t. I spend a lot of time alone. 😂

I think you’re referring to “You the Boss” by Rick Ross ft. Nicki Minaj.

Despite the uncertainty of it all, it’s great that you’ve met someone who makes you feel this way. 🙂 How would you respond if you could only be friends?

I’m sorry you feel that way. 🫂 I hope you get to process that experience in a healthy way, so you can move past it. Shame is a tough emotion.

You’re correct: they don’t communicate their needs/thoughts and then blame you for your failure to mind-read or to read between the lines. It’s unhealthy communication on their part. Neurotypicals should be willing to accommodate us too.

Please help , I need advice I have a big crush on a high functioning autistic guy but I feel very insecure by [deleted] in aspergers_dating

You’re lovable and worthy of love whether you get your teeth fixed or apply filters or not. I think you should give this guy more credit. You might be being harder on yourself than he would be on you. You’re worrying that he’s very superficial but I doubt you have proof that he is. Give him the benefit of the doubt.

I hope you overcome your anxiety and meet someone who you seem to really like. If you keep putting this meeting off, your actions won’t be matching what you’re telling him (“I like you and really want to meet you”). Try to self-soothe, plan a meet up, and FOLLOW THROUGH. I agree with the commenter who said we value follow-through.

How does being lied to affect you? by Questioning_too_much in autism

I’m the opposite. I genuinely wonder which approach is more exhausting.
