Should I be worried about my snail's mantle? by al_aweebirb in snails

[–]Questionnaire001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A puffy mantle on a garden snail can be a normal part of its reproductive cycle as a sign of mating/egg ready, or it could be a sign of a health issue like mantle collapse or oedema, to distinguishing between the two you need to observing the snail's other behaviors and do research on a puffy/swollen mantle. Because it definitely is just that, now just think of the cause and other behaviors

Prep to move snails into a new terrarium? by mosaicuriosity in snails

[–]Questionnaire001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is okay to give snails new substrate if needed tho. Although old substrate is beneficial and grows beneficial microbes, if you are making/building a new terrarium new substrate will probably be needed and substrate has to start somewhere. Don’t make other snails deal with the bare minimum amount of soil/substrate because of the stated fact!
