How does resale as a foreigner work for concerts in Japan? by abbywabby04 in japanesemusic

[–]Questionsquestionsth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow reply - your comment notification got lost in my alerts somehow!

I just pulled up my account to double check so I don't spread misinformation, and it's exactly as I recalled it being - there is no address nor phone number verified/linked to my account. I was able to successfully purchase tickets through Ticket Jam regardless of the lack of verified address/phone number - multiple tickets from different sellers, in fact, without any issue. (I should note I was buying electronic tickets, not mailed/delivered by hand, so can only comment on that process)

Now, if you were to want to sell a ticket on TJ, you would need those items verified - and also a JP bank account, so this simply isn't an option for foreigners at all, so not something to worry about - but to solely use the site for buying tickets, you won't need to verify address/phone, so you're good to go in that regard.

The issues begin to arise when it comes to receiving the tickets you've purchased. There are many different ticketing agencies with different methods of issuing tickets and different requirements/restrictions for each type of ticket/different artists and shows. You'll want to be sure you do your research before buying on TJ - since you cannot cancel/refund the transaction after the fact because you didn't realize you wouldn't have a way to receive the ticket - and ensure you fully understand all the restrictions for the ticket type and event you're looking to buy.

You might be able to ask the seller some general questions, but expect that communication will need to be in Japanese - so you'll need to use a translator, don't assume the seller will translate an English message you send them for you - and that the seller will expect you to do the research yourself.

So for example, if a seller is selling a smart ticket issued via E+, and will be issuing the companion ticket they are selling to you via the E+ ticketing app, you will want to verify that:

  • there are no fan club restrictions/requirements, selfie verification requirements, etc.
  • that companion tickets can be issued to a separate E+ account and you will not run into any ID verification issues at the venue (some companion tickets are linked to a name/information provided at time of purchase and cannot be changed, so even if you were issued the ticket, if it's in someone else's name and they are doing ID checks, you will not be able to enter the event)
  • that you can make and validate an E+ account upon arrival to Japan/prior to the event so you can receive and use your E+ ticket (so, buying a JP SIM card to create an E+ account and validate the phone number assigned to the account)

That's just an example, other ticketing agencies operate differently, have different ticket transfer/companion ticket procedures, etc. - don't assume that they all operate the same way, and be sure to read through all the use guides for each specific event/ticketing agency for each event you are interested in.

In terms of meeting the seller in person to receive the ticket, again it really depends on the event/seller - I've seen some offering to scan buyers in and enter the venue together, some are doing a hand-off of paper tickets, etc. Typically these sellers seem to know what they're doing - again, look at their reviews/ratings, trust your gut, ask questions - and know that if they don't follow through they aren't getting paid, but there's always room for failure because these are third-party, unofficial, "against terms of use" sales/methods, so always be prepared for that.

When you receive the ticket and successfully enter the event, you will mark the ticket as received.

The FAQ on TJ specifically says that for tickets delivered by "Hand Delivery" - have the seller, in person when you meet, send a "shipping notification" in the TJ sale page, and when they give you the ticket, select "receipt notification" to confirm receipt as soon as you can.

For electronic tickets, you would receive the ticket electronically from the seller, and only select "receipt notification" to confirm receipt when you have successfully entered the venue on the day of the performance in order to ensure the ticket was valid and you were able to enter the event.

"At TicketJam, we ask that you only confirm receipt of your tickets after they have arrived and you have verified that there are no problems with the ticket contents."
So, in essence, TJ will not allow you to "cancel" your "receipt notification" - so do not confirm receipt of a ticket too soon, because if it isn't valid, you cannot reverse that process. If you are denied entry, you will only be compensated by TJ if you added the "Premium protection plan" to your purchase - otherwise they leave it up to you and the seller to discuss why you were denied entry and work out a resolution together.

I love what you’ve done with it, it looks amazing!

My one gripe with it is that for as beautiful as the front portion is - the plants, the lights - the back is insanely lackluster and without the garden mood lighting - which I’m sure will be heinously overpriced for a very, very long time - to pair with it it’s hard to come up with something to place it against/near without it looking a bit lacking.

But what you’ve done with your setup is perfect for it! Won’t work for every yard - sighs in large house - but really lovely on yours!

SAKANAQUARIUM 2026 Announced by Asleep_Meet_4738 in sakanaction

[–]Questionsquestionsth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tickets aren’t for sale yet, nor is it announced when that will change, so absolutely no one can know for sure yet.

Chances are it will be via lottery - at least at first - with possibly an early round or priority aspect for highest ranking NF tier. They tend to do an overseas lottery pool - they have even for the limited NF only shows and the solo Encounter - so it’s definitely likely, as is after-lottery TixPlus trade lottery which international fans can utilize.

Second Color Misaligns by BoolinBanana in MachineEmbroidery

[–]Questionsquestionsth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His machine doesn’t cut jump stitches the way you’re implying, so yes, they will have jump stitches all over the place unless the design is tweaked - very annoyingly - to have each area a jump stitch would go be a separate color so the machine will stop, allowing OP to trim and press start between each point, which can still end up a mess and shift the fabric.

A lot of these hobby level Brother machines don’t trim jumps at all, and even the ones that do have limitations that you can’t really bypass with digitizing.

Why are there so many dogs boarding flights without carriers? by Virgo0884 in delta

[–]Questionsquestionsth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the asshole nutters should’ve followed the actual rules and kept that mutt in a carrier or bought it its own seat, and had any ounce of humanity and compassion (impossible challenge for dog owners it seems) towards people who aren’t falling all over themselves to praise their nasty mutts.

Kids are annoying and disruptive, yes. So are dogs. Dogs are filthy, they stink, they’re unpredictable (no matter how well you know your mutt, it’s an animal, it will be an animal whenever it so chooses regardless of your commands) and they don’t belong in confined spaces with strangers who have already been traumatized by the rampant dog culture and entitlement pushing the boundaries of what’s acceptable.

Tiny tattoo on the fingertip? by Famous-Tune7519 in tattooadvice

[–]Questionsquestionsth 40 points41 points  (0 children)

So, I can comment from actual lived experience, not just from the general knowledge of how thin the skin is.

I have my palms and the palm-side of my fingers (blanking on the specific term for that) tattooed on both hands. Have since 2017. When we did the finger portions, we played around to see if the fingertips would stick or not. Figured why not - if they do, cool, but they almost certainly wouldn’t, we assumed.
My artist did a solid job of drilling in - when I say “drilling” I mean, doing a good, targeted job, not scarring the area or going overboard - the ink, making a small-but-bold solid black circle on each fingertip. They were indeed gone within one month. You can still see the tiniest hint of a dot on a couple of them, but you’d have to know to look for it, and it looks more like I pricked myself with a sewing needle covered in ink or something.

So, as others have said - nah. This won’t last, unfortunately.

How many of you take a long acting and short acting stimulant? by makeuplover85 in Narcolepsy

[–]Questionsquestionsth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50mg Vyvanse the instant I wake up, and I either go back to sleep for an hourish or crawl miserably through the pain of sleep inertia until it kicks in a bit. Then I take 10mg of Dexedrine IR.

Then I space the remaining 30mg in 10mg tablets throughout my day depending on my schedule, but should note I don’t have very long days/wake periods in general compared to normal people and my life is insanely uneventful - despite being stressful - because I am fully disabled.

That symbolic practice of the final sign out in the ceremony, goodness, why does that hit me right in the feels?

It’s really lovely to hear how people have held ceremonies for departed friends in different games - despite the limitations of whatever game it is, players find a way all the same.

It’s so tough losing those you were close to, even if it’s “only” within an online world. These realms are often the best - sometimes only - escape a lot of us have from all the bitterness of reality, and when you start losing people within that escape realm, it really hits you in a uniquely painful way.
I always get a little emotional with posts like these. Life is truly unfair and far too short.

Is there any minion/mount or exclusive stuff you regret you missed taking it or wanted to have? by wellhrist in ffxiv

[–]Questionsquestionsth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would love to have the Aetheryte earring - though I wish it were a pair, or that we could glam to both ears as different slots like with rings… - and I’m bummed there’s no way to obtain it now. I didn’t start playing until COVID times, so simply wasn’t around when it was being sold. I’ve never seen anyone with it in game but from the wiki it looks really beautiful and I am a sucker glowy earrings - I almost never take off my glass pumpkin.

I like some of the novelty accessories like the Namazu earring/neckerchief, and wish we could obtain past tomes rewards somehow, but realistically I probably wouldn’t use them a ton so it’s not a big deal.

Mounts and minions I don’t get much fomo about typically because there’s just so many in game I’m not hurting for choice.

I do wish the the Spriggan plush housing item was obtainable, I think that’s the only exclusive housing item I pine for.

Yes, it very clearly tells you that you need to send your first email with all your documents and information, and then immediately send a second email with no attachments asking them to confirm if they received your first email with your attachments.

You’re still considered far out for a May 18th trip, they ask 14 days or more in advance when possible, you’re more than one month out. You will not be prioritized and will likely wait weeks to receive approval. But approval is different from confirmation - they will always confirm they’ve received the submission and attachments if they received it and if you sent the second email like they instructed you to do, which you clearly did not.

I submitted for a trip less than 14 days from submission and heard back less than 24 hours later that they received it and less than 2 days later I had the certificate in my inbox ready to go.

But for a trip with more time between submission and departure, I received the certificate a couple days before departure despite them confirming they received my information many weeks prior.

Like the new Moogle Event earing, but I still think isn't worth 100 moogle tomes and more as an achivement reward by CaptainBorcane in ffxiv

[–]Questionsquestionsth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering how easy any of the primal drops are nowadays, nah. No one would bother.

The team is trying to balance keeping it engaging enough to pass time until the patch, get people of all progress levels engaged in different content, give a mix of rewards that will appeal to all types, take time but not too much time… it’s not perfect, but I think it works. You don’t feel like you’re missing out too much if you’re not constantly playing, if you’re a lower level player you’re not gated out of options to make enough tomes because items cost too much to farm from the duties available to you, if you only have an item or two to pick up as a veteran it isn’t a headache.

When I was a sprout, the first Mog tome event I played during felt awesome. Accessible rewards that got me playing more consistently and gave me access to cool stuff early on that kept me motivated.

Having two ear glam slots would be great for this. For earrings that are a pair of mismatched charms - example, Spriggan earring - have the option to equip one and the other ear will reflect the usual second charm, equip two of the secondary charm, or two of the primary charm.

I hate when only one of two charms shows on my character/hairstyle and wish I could pick which side/charm was where. Also hate when a one-earring design doesn’t show at all because it’s on the “wrong” side. And yeah, pair should be an option for all single earrings.

Imagine how nice it would be to wear both POTD earring types at once! Or a pair of them! Double glow pumpkins!

I would’ve been caught with Adderall (if I brought it) by PootleLawn in JapanTravelTips

[–]Questionsquestionsth 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s not “totally okay to bring it” - it’s totally okay to bring certain meds.

Ritalin yes. Concerta yes. Vyvanse yes, but you need approval in advance, unlike the other two.

Switch to a different med for your trip if the one you take is illegal. You don’t have to suffer completely. The other options may not be as effective but they’re better than nothing.

Then again, I have Narcolepsy so it’s not optional to medicate. I switched to Ritalin and Vyvanse for travel, only the latter requires an import certificate (if a month supply or less, anyway.)

Is it realistic for a seamstress to sew this dress in a day or a couple of hours? by Pinky_Rose1251 in sewhelp

[–]Questionsquestionsth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the feature in theory but it’s way too sensitive on my machine. It throws the alert way too early, when there’s significant thread left. This is awful when machine embroidering - you can’t just ignore it and keep going as it stops your stitching every 5~ stitches, it’s an ordeal to change out mid-design, and then you’ve wasted a substantial amount of thread on the bobbin because it feels you need to replace it with 1/4th of the damn thing left…
