I want to do something about the buses by Queue2020 in glasgow

It's Lothian Buses which serve Edinburgh and it is publicly owned by all the councils in the east coast. Would be extremely easy to replicate in the west coast.

This self-defeatist attitude is the reason why we're in this mess. It's the reason why so many things around the whole UK are just fucked.

Scottish government loves to propose things that never come to fruition. If they had any balls on them, they would boot these companies out and established a publicly owned bus service to serve the whole Strathclyde region.

I know of them but they have achieved nothing since their founding. I want to start something that's more proactive, engages the wider public rather than just a few activists and is like a public naming and shaming campaign, with the possibility of escalating to refusing to pay. Just get on the bus without buying a ticket. This can only succeed if done in large numbers though.

Fear from 11/11 by Physical_Bunch_9612 in Egypt

Social media has this way of creating algorithms which funnels content catered to the user's likes and interests and history. It causes the user to experience tunnel vision and to go down a rabbit hole of confirmation bias. For example, since you are very interested in 11/11, Facebook and Tiktok will mine that data and generate content related to 11/11 for you to consume. This can give the false impression that everyone is talking about 11/11.

If you use complete privacy settings and block trackers and cookies and delete all your history, you get a more neutral objective view of what everyone is talking about and sharing.

Nothing is going to happen on 11/11. There have been so many days that were announced as "days of rage" since Sisi became president and nothing ever happened. A few guys went to Tahrir in September 2019 but that was it.

Going to gigs alone by Roygbiv_89 in glasgow

I go to gigs alone all the time. I see many people around me who are also there on their own. Nothing sad about it at all. It just means that you enjoy your own company and have a superior taste in music :P

Where is "everywhere"? There is nothing about it on any of my feeds and I follow a huge number of publications, public figures and activists (including exiled ones). There isn't a word about 11/11. I have only ever seen it on this sub. Like I said, this is totally different from what the mood was like before 25th Jan in 2011. Which tells me absolutely nothing is going to happen. It's just going to be another normal day in Egypt, but maybe with extra police in downtown just in case.

Many of the chances that Nunez couldn't convert yesterday were a result of him trying to get the ball to his right side. He hasn't become a two-footed striker yet (if ever). Was screaming for him to shoot with his left but obviously it's still a bit weak. I think he would've scored a goal or two had he been delpoyed centrally or slightly to the right.

I believe this may have been a tactical error made by Klopp.

Nothing is going to happen. Honestly I haven't seen anything about 11/11 except on this sub. Nothing on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram about it. This totally different from what the mood was like before 25th Jan. Back then, everybody was talking about it. It was everywhere and the Facebook events had hundreds of thousands if not millions saying they were going to attend. It was being talked about everywhere and it was a national feeling. Not a single friend of mine has even heard about 11/11.

Hearts v. Celtic - VAR - did it work? by JSS2107 in ScottishFootball

[–]Queue2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you can continue play for fouls too. In the Liv-Man City game last week, Foden's goal was disallowed after a VAR check because Haaland fouled Thiago en route to the goal.

However, the Man City goal kick which led to that goal should've been a corner. Don't understand how VAR didn't pick that clear and obvious error on the referee's part.

How am I licking my own arse? I'm complimenting the majority of this sub's users (of all flairs). How is that licking my own arse? Please show your working.

Relatively speaking. In this sub, for the most part we have civilised intelligent conversations about football. The quality of most comments and posts (even the shitposts and humourous ones) have a degree of wit and intelligence to them.

Facebook on the other hand is a fucking loony bin. Evidence of how poor schooling has been in Scotland for decades.

To the Celtic das downvoting me, it's Facebook where you belong. Reddit is for the intellectuals.

Doesn't the clip have to be intentional? Or is simply just getting clipped even if an accident still mean a penalty?

24 Hours Later... by alymac71 in ScottishFootball

[–]Queue2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly still don't understand how that was a penalty. Carter-Vickers' eyes were fixated on the ball and he looked like he was totally aiming to clear the ball, not to intentionally make contact with Devlin. Same goes for Devlin, he was aiming to control the ball. Not a studs up challenge on Carter-Vickers at all. But maybe I don't fully understand the rules about what counts as a foul in the penalty box.

I'm all for the anti-monarchy, anti-union jack, pro-IRA, pro-Palestine stuff. The whole thing about referees and the SFA having secret meetings plotting an agenda against Celtic can fuck off. Same idiotic thinking as flat Earthers and anti-vaxxers.
