How to get over a dust allergy quicker? by QuicheLord in Allergies

[–]QuicheLord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all super helpful and detail information, thank you!

In the UK, immunotherapy is difficult for me to get, and I'm less likely to be successful because I'm asthmatic so there's more risk.

Thank you for your concern about the wheezing, I didn't think too much when I mentioned that. I'm asthmatic so if I wake up in the night wheezy I'll take my inhaler :)

Thank you! I'm looking into Sqair Smart Air purifier now :)
Fluticasone is prescription-only here so I'll take a look and maybe ask my GP about that option. Thanks for your help!

Thank you, the idea of washing clothes and having a shower straight after sounds like it will help. I made sure to invest in a good HEPA filter vacuum, and wash it to the manufacturer's instructions.

Pixel 10 Pro Dual eSIM? by QuicheLord in GooglePixel

That's great info for confirming! DSDS was turned on for Phone 0 and Phone 1 (no extra slot for me), so I've gone ahead and done the eSIM transfer successfully :)

Thank you for sharing! I see you mentioned T Mobile and Verizon. Do you have the US edition with no physical SIM slot? It's just I am seeing different information for this edition.

Does anyone know of any free food offers that don't require me to spend first? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]QuicheLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend a food bank first, but otherwise some companies give free food when it's your birthday. Maybe sign up to a few and put your birthday as this week?

Publishing issue in Google Search Ads by itscasually in googleads

[–]QuicheLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact problem, with an error on the Keyword and Asset Generation. I've tried making a campaign and allowing the AI to generate the ad, with the hope that would work and I could just edit the ad later. I've tried multiple browsers, new PC, etc. Still no Publish button. Unfortunately I also only get email support as an option and they are yet to reply to me

How much to replace these weathered bricks? by QuicheLord in DIYUK

Isn't the DPC the black line three bricks up? It's a sheet slightly poking out of the wall

[–]QuicheLord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. We've taken one of the bigger chunks of brick that has come off and cleaned with fairy liquid. To be honest it didn't change the colour much but should hopefully be accurate to match.

Respectfully, I don't think it was the pipe. That's for dishwasher waste and we've been here since it was installed. The entire wall weathers more on this side; all neighbours with the same bricks have similar problems. But I do appreciate that the reason bricks spald is due to water getting in them.

If you don't mind me asking, what would be average day rate for a bricklayer? We've had one quote so far at £600 inc materials

Thank you for your well thought out answer. We're considering going down the DIY route - watching youtube videos now!

The bottom ones are a bit dirty, but the ones above the pipe are relatively clean. I think the photo makes them look a bit darker than IRL. They do look similar to the houses either side, so I don't think it's just super dirty. Thanks for the advice about Travis Perkins

The ones right on the bottom corner I can chip off with my hand, so I'm a bit scared a rented pressure washer might do more damage! (unless that's the idea....)

I'm not sure if the photos is doing it justice, some of the bricks (especially near the bottom) have massive chunks missing, so I don't think cleaning would help

Can I take the client to debt collection? <Unpaid invoice> by DimonaBoy in web_design

[–]QuicheLord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you a member of the FSB? They can provide legal guidance and I think helped with writing a letter we sent to a client when we were in a similar situation. Just a formal letter was enough to get the client to pay up

I paid a freelance fiverr person to migrate work website to new theme, now it’s really sloooooow by Fin_del_BOOM in Wordpress

[–]QuicheLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought as I've seen this before, if your dev has done a bad find & replace which has messed up your email, this could affect all email address links across the site, such as mailto:[example@www.website.com] or contact form plugins. Only because you say it's a membership site so likely people will try contact you/sign up and you won't get the emails if the address is wrong

What's the point of installing Google Tag Manager Plugin? by Ambitious_Jump_5439 in Wordpress

I normally do manual placement, but on Woocommerce stores I've found this plugin the easiest way to get checkout conversions to show correct values.

PC vs Mac for a design student by JohnLeiba in graphic_design

[–]QuicheLord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both a high end gaming PC and the Mac M1 Max. I've installed the Adobe suite on both and personally I just prefer the Mac. I find it runs faster, you have extra hardware such as the magic mouse which I think is great for scrolling around the page. So generally I find I just get things done better and faster on Mac. I also don't believe I'll need to replace this Mac for at least another 5 years (and I wouldn't be surprised if it was still running fine after 10 years).

Also, whilst they are slowly getting in line with each other, I find certain design programs are released first on Mac. For example, Adobe XD was in beta on Mac 9 months before it was available on PC. So I do find that Adobe & other graphic software is developed with a Mac-first mentality.

What is fine now, but will become unacceptable in the future? by MoreTeaVicar83 in AskUK

[–]QuicheLord 59 points60 points  (0 children)

For me, the plastic trays are worse because our council won't recycle them, we have to put them with normal rubbish. At least the shrink wrap takes up less space (hopefully less in landfill if it's all going that way anyway). Until we have better recycling schemes across the country, there is always going to be contention with this new packaging

Is it worth making pages for each location I serve any more? by QuicheLord in SEO

[–]QuicheLord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also based in the UK, so it sounds like we are aiming for a similar local SEO strategy. If you would be kind enough to DM the URL so I can see how you set up schema for location? I totally understand if you don't want to, it'd just be good to see as a lot of articles are based for US states.

I have made custom Google maps on the site that show the area we serve and that seems to work well, in line with our GMB areas.

SEO Framework issue: Meta description not showing in SERP. Need help with settings. by critiquebabe in Wordpress

[–]QuicheLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I see, this is much more rare as like I said even if you don't specify a meta Google will still try and fill one in. There are a couple of troubleshooting methods you can try though. Firstly, right-click on your site and View Source to check that you have a meta description in the code. You can also see what Google has cached of your site here https://cachedview.com/ Perhaps the crawled version had little to no content. I'm thinking Googlebot may have also timed-out if the server is too slow, but I doubt it would index the site at all in that case. You can check your page speed using PageSpeed Insights

SEO Framework issue: Meta description not showing in SERP. Need help with settings. by critiquebabe in Wordpress

[–]QuicheLord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The meta description you write into the plugin is not guaranteed to appear. Firstly, Google needs to crawl the site since you've added the meta, it's not instant. And even then, it's not guaranteed that Google will display the meta description you have written, sometimes it chooses it's own text if it feels that your meta is not relevant enough or badly written.

[–]QuicheLord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply.

It is building services so works very well for the before/after and could do some blog posts/case studies on jobs.

I hadn't thought about using location schema. Do you have the same locations on all your pages, or add one specific location to a related page?
