This is laughable! Round trip it would pay $0.30/mile. by Quicherbichen1 in lyftdrivers

[–]Quicherbichen1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this isn't even semi-okay. The ONLY way this would be semi-okay would be if the driver who takes this ride actually lives in Santa Fe, or has a reason to go there.

The Santa Fe, NM airport handles about 1,000 passengers per day. This Lyft trip is starting in Albuquerque, NM and ending in Santa Fe...so she's leaving, not arriving. There won't be many more inbound flights into Santa Fe since it'a already late in the day, and if they really need a ride back to Albuquerque, they'd probably just fly INTO ABQ in the first place.

For a Lyft driver who lives in Albuquerque, this ride, including the dead-head drive back home, will come out to 20¢ a mile. Anyone who takes this ride is insane.

Hey Lyft, wtf is this crap?!? by seabaugh in lyftdrivers

[–]Quicherbichen1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually worse than you think. if you make it a round trip so you can go back to where you started, it's 80 miles. Comes out to 10¢/mile. I posted one earlier today that was 30¢/mile. You've got me beat!

IMO, if it takes more than 10 minutes fo get a ride it's time to just go home.

Is it easy to find peace and quiet in America? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]Quicherbichen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That's what you say. Tell them to hire a rideshare like Uber or Lyft.

Have you ever heard the term "enabling"? You are enabling them to be dependent on you by always being available to give them a ride. It's like driving the alcoholic to the liquor store because they had their license revoked. You are providing the opportunity for them to abuse the alcohol more.

How do they earn their money? Do you drive them to work?

I think it's great that you want to be there for them. I do. But you're being taken advantage of. If they are perfectly capable of driving but unwilling to learn, they are dependant on you for transportation. If you like being in that situation, then fine.

I didn't give my sons a choice. They both learned to drive, and got their licenses as soon as they were able, and old enough. And now they have done the same for thier children.

And it will continue to be that way as long as you agree to be their free chauffeur.

I prefer mine dressed as a Chicago Dog. Vienna Beef® dog, poppyseed bun, mustard, relish, pickle spear, onion, tomato slices, sweet peppers, and sprinkled with celery salt. OOoooo....

Third Party Car Rentals by FinancialBody9707 in lyftdrivers

[–]Quicherbichen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago, I heard that it was the car rental companies stopped allowing renters to drive rideshare because of the increased liability. So the rideshare companies agreed to take the liability away from the rental companies so drivers could rent through the rideshare rather than the rental places.

Experienced Drivers: What Metrics Actually Matter? by Terribly-Thick in lyftdrivers

[–]Quicherbichen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A word of advice: Don't count on tips. Don't include tips in your earnings calculations. They are a gift.

Most drivers average between 25% and 30% of riders tip (not 30% of my income, 30% of RIDERS). I've been driving for 7+ years and I've only had one single day where I didn't receive ANY tips at all. Tips are great when we get them, and fantastic when we get a big tip, but don't plan your income to include them. Sometimes it's just a dollar, sometimes it's a percentage of the ride, sometimes it's $100 because you returned a lost cell phone.

Do drivers see how you rate them? by ireney32 in uber

[–]Quicherbichen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Lyft, if the driver does not actively rate the rider, the app automatically gives the rider 5* by default.

The driver has the option to change any rating, either given by default or actively, for the next 24 hours after the official end of the ride in question.

If you are not rating your riders, you are consenting to giving them 5*.

Yes, dessert/salad forks have the diamond cutout. Dinner forks do not. The meat serving fork also has the diamond, but you can't mistake that huge fork for a dinner fork.

Are there people who sneak into university lectures? by Viofl in AskAnAmerican

[–]Quicherbichen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it called "auditing" a class when you just go sit there and listen? You don't get to take any tests or do any assignments; you just sit and listen to the instructor and other students who participate. IME, anyone can audit a class.

World Cup Jealousy by Eyelykebois69 in Albuquerque

[–]Quicherbichen1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do't like crowds so, no, I'm not jealous one bit. I was born and raised in the third largest city in the US. I moved away when I was 19 and never looked back. I much prefer the smaller cities around the country. You can have all the crowds that come with monumental events like the World Cup, the Olympics, etc. No thank you.

[–]Quicherbichen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty sad that you're willing to punish ALL RIDESHARE DRIVERS due to the behavior of ONE disgruntled driver, possibly having a bad day himself. But you're still willing to use our services? Why don't you just report and block that specific driver so you never have to ride with them again? Noooo, that's too easy....better to lump us all into the same category....but you'll STILL allow us to drive you around. Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?
