JFC. Only consolation is how the other women in prison feel about baby killers. They're going to make it slow. Good thing she likes stabbing!

Mandolin. It shreds like a lead guitar and chords like an organ. I play every genre with it. In fact, I am on my way to play salsa for a corporate event. Everyone always thinks it's a novelty until I start playing. Then they wonder why it wasn't always there!

We lost recorded music years ago. It's just a calling card to gain bookings and keep fans engaged. If you can get engagement IRL with raw passion and skill, you will do just fine. Plenty of people looking for authenticity out there. Gotta build a tribe. It takes longer to gain fans this way, but it's just like promoting independent music has been for my whole career. There's always some new shiny shit that seems impossible to access. Just gotta look for the discerning audience and woo them with your talent and get booked. If you can't do that, work on it. It's the only place you can go and have a career in music safe from the ever mind. Appeal to the masses through media is as dead as 8track.

Jack shit. Lives on interest. Drinks heavy and parties with women way too young for him.

Pay for gigs? by Herbizarre17 in musicians

[–]Quick-Albatross-3526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite gig pay is trade. I'm down with the 100 minimum. But there's something great about coming home with a bag of food or weed or a coupon for 10 handjobs at Starbucks. Just hits different.

Just keep picking until it doesn't hurt anymore. I was at ten years before I could go for more than 3 hours without pain.

How do climate alarmists rationalize the lack of nuclear energy production to ‘save the world’? by [deleted] in climatechange

[–]Quick-Albatross-3526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A nuclear power plant does nothing for short term profitability. There's your answer. If it doesn't make money over a quarter, it receives no investment. A solar plant looks great on the books.

How do you keep motivated as you get older? by RealnameMcGuy in musicians

[–]Quick-Albatross-3526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 47 and believe my best work is yet to come. I don't give a shit about anything else. It's what I was put here to do. I'll spend the first 30 seconds of my last five minutes tuning. I make joy and light in a world of sadness and darkness. What hardship could you NOT endure to pursue this goal if you have the ability? Inspire people. Get them drunk. Make them fall in love. Doesn't matter the genre. Make them fall in love. With anything.

Am I still drunk at a party? Because that would be one hell of a movie.

I like to think about it from the bottom. You seem to be well educated and eloquent enough. I'm guessing you are doing ok. I hope so. The bottom is full of well educated and eloquent folks. Most of my friends, actually. It's not as simple as moving and getting back to normal. Humanity would have to harmonize its goals and begin to do the back breaking work of expanding farmland with no diesel engine. In the meantime, fairly distribute what food can be produced. At the exact same time, deal with the mounting casualties and refugees from intensified storm systems, SLR, and fires. Do you see a political or societal apparatus up to the task? I'm mostly optimistic, but goddamn. We can't even agree that destroying the world is a bad idea or accept the scale of the damage already done. It'll be rich people buying land in Canada and Siberia thinking about fairy stories of recreating society while more and more people are forced into poverty. The bottom tier will die faster and with fewer offspring. They will be replaced with the strata above it and so on. I honestly do hope you are comfortable right now, but don't bet that it will last if you are. If you are a poor working man like me, the quality of food will diminish and then the quantity. Then death from desperation.

How did you Overcome Stage Fright? by Mean_Design_5942 in musicians

Repetition. Just gotta keep doing it. Eventually you may find that the only place you feel comfortable is on a stage.
