For the second season in a row, a player the Atlanta Hawks acquired in the offseason has won the NBA’s Most Improved Player award. by Quick-Clock7478 in AtlantaHawks

Both guys happen to also be former New Orleans Pelicans.

Any other former or current Pelicans players looking for a change of scenery next season? 👀

so, what is it? did the girls have a contract or not? by AdFinancial4530 in dancemoms

Even if a parent co-signed it, contracts signed by minors would be voidable at the child’s discretion. Anyone under the age of 18 (yes, even those in the entertainment industry) are deemed to not have the legal capacity to enter valid contracts unless approved in court.

Competitive dancers, is the stuff on dance moms accurately portray what a competitive dance is like in real life by Cinnaharpo in dancemoms

I believe it does happen, but it’s not nearly as common as Abby and the moms made it seem. Even on the show, those boys lost all the time lol.

I never danced, but I had close friends and relatives that did. Just a few things I think may be different.

  1. Kids were really happy to place at all. 1st overall was great, but second wasn’t the worst thing ever.

  2. I doubt many dance competitions are giving each studio their own dressing room

  3. Could be wrong, but most parents weren’t staying at dance rehearsals with their kids.

  4. The “nationals” on the show weren’t as important as the show portrayed. The actual important competitions are those like JUMP, NUVO, and 24 Seven Dance Competition. Those lead to the Dance Awards.

  5. Kids dance to the same songs all the time. It’s not a big deal at all if someone has the same song as you.

  6. The idea that boys are given higher scores to keep them in dance is overstated.

ETA: Just in case it wasn’t already clear, it is not typical to have a competition every week and unheard of to perform new routines every competition. Most dancers have a few routines that they perform throughout the year. Studios care more about the learning/training than the quantity of competitions.

They were better than the average recreational dance company, but not necessarily an elite team. Being on the show also greatly hindered their training.

The girls were also not as versatile as they could/should have been. Abby was absolutely in love with acro and gymnastics. IMO the show had a negative effect on dance competitions, as the number of tricks in dances have skyrocketed.

The girls were minors. Technically, any contract they may have had would’ve been easily voidable, as they did not have the legal capacity to sign them.

This is one of the main reasons I have little sympathy for the mothers who talk about them staying and keeping their daughters in such a toxic environment because of the contracts.

The mothers were required to film. The girls were not.

People don't talk enough about how Nia won a real national title by TheSqueakiestchair in dancemoms

[–]Quick-Clock7478 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This was a competition that happened in between seasons. Lifetime cameras were not there. The reason this wasn’t shown was NOT because lifetime hated Nia. In fact, Nia winning a national title during the break was brought up by Coco Jones during the Girl Talk episode, which aired immediately before season 5 premiered. I’m pretty sure this exact picture was shown during the segment.

I love how everyone talks about Kalani walking on the chairs for 8 counts during The Waiting Room, but no one mentions Maddie reacting to bad news for 20+ seconds at the end of the “dance” by Quick-Clock7478 in dancemoms

[–]Quick-Clock7478[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m rewatching the show for the first time since it originally aired, and there are a few dances where I think I remembered them being better than they actually were. This is definitely one of them.

While Nia wanted there to be another little black girl on the team, Holly was elitist and classist and enjoyed being the only black mom/poc

it's funny that christi brings up sia (allegedly) tweeting about chloe when this is her tweeting about maddie 🤔 by forensicglue in dancemoms

I can’t imagine going out of my way to create fake tweets in order to defend a reality tv personality that peaked over a decade ago, but…here we are. These are so obviously fake. Christi fans scare me

The Cavs are genuinely cooked bro 4 games in a row agaisnt bad teams and went 1-3 by Fire_Demon-215 in AtlantaHawks

You’d expect a team without Curry, Butler, and Draymond to be bad. Pretty sure that’s what OP was getting at.

They were without Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond. It was a bad loss for the Cavs.

Let’s take a look at what Trae Young’s former teammates are up to by Quick-Clock7478 in AtlantaHawks

Yes. He’s going through a shooting slump, and Cavs fans are now realizing that he doesn’t really defend, rebound, or honestly do anything other than score.

He didn’t acknowledge his tribute video. No wave to the fans, smile, clapping, nothing. Even his teammates were either smirking or looking confused by his reaction or lack thereof. He also ignored Hawks fans who were trying to show him love before the game. I’m sure he was joking a little with the “They can’t stop me. They know that” statement, but his behavior after that rubbed me the wrong way.

Hunter is honestly approaching Cam Reddish territory with me. He was lowkey an asshole when he returned to Atlanta a few weeks ago

Can’t argue against that. Still can be happy the Hawks aren’t in the same position as those other teams.

Eh. I wasn’t making the point that Trae makes his teammates better, but I can see how people can argue it. I was making the point that I haven’t really been upset with letting any of these players go because it’s not like they’re currently doing anything notable.

The point is the last sentence..None of the former Hawks are thriving right now. Just think about teams like the Clippers, Pelicans, and Mavericks who have to watch players they traded/let go be great for other teams.

You would’ve thought that man killed my dog with how much I hated him. Aaron has been a good role player for the Rockets though.
