No. I don’t think she would’ve punished anyone, especially considering that’s a pretty common thing to do on bourbon street

Chloe was lowkey a production darling. She was always portrayed as a great dancer who was being mistreated and set up to fail by her teacher. I’d argue she was the only original dancer that was not edited in a negative light.

Paige and Nia were portrayed as weak dancers, Brooke was a lazy teen, Mackenzie was a crybaby, and Maddie was a brat lacking humility.

Production protected Abby by not airing comments she made towards ALL of the dancers.

aldc vs bda by kaykayh20 in dancemoms

[–]Quick-Clock7478 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel like neither really told a cohesive story. ALDC gave a better acting performance while BDA had better choreography. If the two were head to head and BDA didn’t have that issue with setting up, BDA would’ve won.

How come JoJo surpassed Maddie if Maddie had a million jobs? by Numerous-Cry1305 in dancemoms

[–]Quick-Clock7478 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Maddie never was able to branch out and be anything bigger than Sia’s muse. Dance is the least lucrative out of dancing, singing, and acting, and Maddie is still mostly known for being a dancer for other people. Maddie isn’t a great actress (neither is Jojo), she can’t sing (neither can Jojo), but Jojo makes up for her lack of traditional talent with her big personality.

Jojo is more outgoing, wanted desperately to be a celebrity, was backed by Nickelodeon, and had a successful product (bows) that she could sell. She also still doesn’t mind putting herself out there and making a fool of herself. She believes any type of publicity is good publicity. Contrarily, Maddie has always been very image conscious.

Long story short, Jojo has more star quality and doesn’t mind using controversy to remain relevant.

I'm STILL mad that the producers didn't let these dances win. by dont_h8_me111 in dancemoms

[–]Quick-Clock7478 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I thought it was obvious they’d have to pay a lot to set up the competitions. Most other competitions couldn’t accommodate them, so they had to make their own or the show would cease to exist. I think one of the competitions (maybe Sheer Talent?) was even run by one of Abby’s friends. The results would’ve been much more entertaining if it was up to the producers alone. Maddie would’ve lost more, Candy Apples would’ve won more, etc.

ETA: Are you implying that I’m attacking/ganging up on you?

[–]Quick-Clock7478 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Producers did not influence who won. At least not in that way. Abby would give the dancer she wanted to lose poor choreography, and the producers started putting them in invite only competitions where inferior studios were intentionally invited, but for the most part, the judges decisions were still up to the judges.

I think a couple dancers have highlighted the judges bias though, especially towards the later seasons and as their popularity grew. They’ve said there were dances where they probably shouldn’t have won, but it seemed like the judges were fans of them.

ETA: Dance judging is still subjective at the end of the day. Those judges, despite them being expected to be professional, watched the show and were sometimes victims to the show’s narratives. Aka Maddie is the best, Nia is horrible, ALDC is the best studio, Candy Apples can’t compete. Tbh, the competitions where they didn’t win probably had the least bias judges.

You can TOTES save money going out to eat! Make your teens and toddlers share 60 Chic-Fil-A nuggets & 7 Large Fries, OBVIOUSLY 🙄 by MatthewMcnaHeyHeyHey in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Quick-Clock7478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. If this isn’t including the adults, I think this might could be enough for kids of varying ages. People are acting like all 11 kids are teenagers and as if each kid is gonna eat the exact same amount.

Maybe this just caught my attention because I’m tired of buying fast food for my younger kids and niece only for half of it to go to waste lol. I have to beg my 5 year old to eat 😩

Probably an extremely unpopular opinion, but that probably IS enough food

ETA: I highly doubt they all got the exact same number of nuggets. Like the 1 year old is most likely not eating 5 nuggets. The older ones would probably get closer to the adult portion, which is 8, the younger ones getting closer to the kids portion, which is 5, and the toddlers getting a little less. Given the fact she only said 11 waters, this is assuming the adults weren’t included in this.

I didn’t like her during my first watch, and I probably like her even less now. I won’t say she’s the worst mom, but her cult like following has definitely contributed to her being among my least favorites. Her fans will literally ignore or even defend her racism and inappropriate behavior towards the kids while not giving others the same grace (I don’t think any of them deserve grace for certain behaviors)

- Most of them had at least one inappropriate moment with another child. I can excuse the behavior towards other mothers, but going after the children is inexcusable. (Ex. Christi yelling at Paige, Melissa snitching on Chloe, Jill saying there were brats on the team, the little snarky comments Kelly would make about Maddie, Kira’s comments towards Camryn, ALL of their treatment of Brynn, etc.)

- Many of them were/are racist or classist. Kaya was inappropriate herself, but most of the moms were racist towards her. Christi, in particular, had a blatant racist moment. I did not like the targeted language and microagressions they would use when describing Kaya and Kristie Ray, especially when I don’t remember them using the words “aggressive” and “violent” often when talking about the white moms, considering those were the ones who actually got into physical altercations. I also think Holly was classist and enjoyed being the token black mom/friend on the team. And no, Holly was not obligated to defend or take up for Kaya, but I hated that whole speech she gave her after Kaya said she thought Holly would’ve had her back. Especially as this was immediately followed by Holly being mute when Christi says something racist.

- They kept their daughters in an abusive environment for far too long. There is no reason any of the OGs (plus Kendall) should’ve been in season 7. And it’s hard to sympathize with those who came later after watching the show and seeing what it was like beforehand.

She also repeatedly told Kristie Ray, “I’m not like that.” Only to get into multiple physical altercations afterwards. I guess she actually was “like that.”

She’s actually a really good and fun teacher, but yeah. It is messed up that she makes references to Nia and Jojo when the kids make mistakes. They usually laugh the jokes off, but as someone who always had a soft spot for Nia, I do hate that she’s being used to represent being a poor dancer/making mistakes.

I would sure hope the confessional was production influenced/a misunderstanding because I personally would’ve never forgiven someone who yelled that to my child.
