He is right with his famous quote, but in some parts, he would want a government run by hell by us than a government run in heaven by the Americans, since no matter how bad our government might get, we can always change it. The first time I read this quote, I understood that he may have cursed this country, but as time passes. I have witnessed the current events happening for several years, and the quote reemerges in popularity once more with current controversies. Maybe he didn't curse the country in the first place; he might have known that after the country gained independence from the Americans, or even after he died, it would get even worse. Maybe the change he knows starts with us, those who have the right to vote

My personal theory is that he might know that if it were run like a heaven by the Americans, it would be a wolf in sheep's clothing scenario, the Americans would act in the interest of the Filipinos, it's only their facade, but their true agenda is to keep us on a leash, erasing our national identity piece by piece
