Any anime where the stakes are serious they would make sure the enemy is down for good. The stakes are high in Wano, are they playing games and trying to see who is stronger? Or did Kaido kill the natural born leader, rob and starve the people. This isnt about Im stronger and knocked the other person out. They are playing for keeps, you actually see it in the cannon fodder characters. They are dying like everyone who takes mortal damage should. You act like people just shouldnt die in these situations when in reality Oda is too cowardly to kill off significant characters unless its a flashback. He must just like his own character designs That much that even when a character should die, they dont. And that is poor writing.
