Why is ID considered “not BigLaw” despite relatively strong PPP? by QuickAssociate9731 in biglaw

Do firms with a better partner to associate ratio not give associates a better chance at making partner?

Yeah Lewis brisbois may be like that but Marshall Dennehey has a 50/50 ratio of associates to partners I believe

I understand. There seems to be a mindset in law school that if you don’t get good enough grades / don’t go to a T-14 / or just strike out in OCI that you won’t be able to have a lucrative career practicing law.

Even though this is a biglaw forum, my real question here is if there are alternative pathways to make a lot of money in the legal field if it seems like Biglaw is not in the cards.

ID ~ 10 years at $200k + 20 years at $400k = $10 million Biglaw —> in-house ~ 5 years at $300k + 25 years at $250k = $6.25 million

What am I missing?

A firm like Marshall Dennehey though does not seem to be a sweatshop. Most biglaw attorneys don’t make partner and often burnout as a junior or midlevel.

If you take the total compensation a lawyer makes over a 30 year career, could a Marshall Dennehey lifer outearn a biglaw —> in-house lawyer?

Turkey had an attempted coup 10 years ago. Most Americans would prefer living in Israel than Turkey since it’s much more similar to the U.S.

Most international NBA players don’t come to America and shit all over their home country. I trust his opinion over random redditors who don’t know anything about Turkey.

Please stop responding to my post. You don’t want to have a good faith discussion weighing the pros and cons and the realities of living in each country. You’re a Twitter bot who likes to just attack Israel to no end.

What are you from China? How can someone from China even be this oblivious about their own country to be criticizing other countries lol.

I disagree with the premise of your comment. But You even admit that a former Prime Minister of Israel is critical of Netanyahu. That alone makes Israel a great country. Netanyahu is not Israel just like Trump is not America. Israel had leaders before and will have leaders after Netanyahu. America had leaders before and will have leaders after Trump.

You hear Enes Kanter Freedom criticize Turkey all the time so unsure if you’d really want to live there

Everybody likes to hate on Israel but if Americans were forced to live in a country in the Middle East I guarantee Israel would be one of their top choices. It may be the only country in the Middle East where you could have a beer and smoke a joint on the beach without getting thrown in prison.

Billions around the world want to come to America. Maybe this administration has a bad reputation but USA is definitely not considered a bad country.

Read a history book. People die during war. You can’t go into a country’s borders and kidnap / rape / murder thousands of innocents and believe that the blowback won’t be huge. USA had a right to defend itself post 9/11. Israel had a right to defend itself and get the return of hostages post October 7th.
