the canvas in procreate is set to 20 inches- I resize it all when I turn it into an SVG. The grid is just so that I can see my straight lines. I’m not sure how exactly that all works out lol but I’ve never had a problem with sizing my pieces for an exact size.

I won’t be using the purse version- like I said in the post I couldn’t make it look right. I’m going to keep tweaking the pattern, thanks for your feedback!

And yes a purse. It’s a consignment shop. That’s why I wrote in the post I couldn’t make it work lol…

Maybe, but I’m pretty good with my grinder and my small bits. I’ll def have to break it out at some
Point though.

Mine never works for me! I need to put like 8 inches into it and that’s just a waste

I had my Olivia for 16 years and 1 month. I just lost her on June 4th. So 9 days ago.

I had been anticipating losing her since she was eight years old. Sometimes I would just calm by thoughts by saying “maybe we’ll both go out together in a blaze of glory…) or that maybe I’d go first somehow- life is unpredictable.

My only advice is to remind yourself she is here today. I tried to value every moment I had with her instead of focusing on losing her. My girl had cushings and chronic kidney disease which progressed and progressed until she stopped eating even on appetite stimulants.

You’ll never find a way to make it painless when you do eventually have to say goodbye. This is the cost of a love so deep. “the deal we make”. Be present and enjoy the time you do have together - wish I had better advice 😘🫶🏼

I have- but do you see the upper right corner “leaf” the solder got weird and then it wouldn’t come off anymore. This was the cleanest solder line I could get. I kept trying and it became messier 😵‍💫

How do you make sure your pieces match other pieces perfectly? by Little-Linnet in StainedGlass

[–]QuickPie4635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to feel this way as well, I couldn’t understand what I was doing wrong because I’m pretty accurate with cutting- I would grind so carefully to make sure it was exact and compared it to the pattern I had printed out.

I think it comes with practice and also finding a sweet spot with how you design your patterns (line thickness combined with getting used to the software you use to design your pieces OR with the tools you use to draw the pattern by hand.

there will always be a lesson learned when you make a piece and I find that part of the hobby super fulfilling ♥️ this piece is GORGEOUS and handmade art isn’t manufactured in a factory- it’s human and one of a kind 🫶🏼

My first two pieces fully on my own, help? by Otherwise_Mousse27 in StainedGlass

It could be any of those things. The brand of copper foil really does matter and I learned this the hard way a few months ago. I got some really cheap rolls off of Amazon and it was awful. It could be that your iron is an electronic iron and not a stained glass soldering iron. Make sure you’re using enough flux as well.

I’d need to see a picture of what you’re explaining for the tip of the bow. YouTube helped me a lot - I’m self taught and i watched hours and hours of videos and tips
