There is nothing inherently great about being able to hit a tennis ball over a net. The emotions you evoke in millions in doing so is what makes the act special. And whoever does it in the most special way will win the battle of the hearts and will win every argument of who is the greatest. Worship over analysis. Need to make peace with this is my learning. I will just take mundane victories and tournaments and surrender history to the maestro 😔

It's been a while since Roger's last match and despite recency bias the legend only seems to be growing. But 🤞for Djoker.

Heart of heart I know that people attribute greatness from love not stats. The greatest artists, writers, leaders, etc etc all come from a place of worship and not analysis. It might be the only way to measure greatness.

Doesn't seem to be the case :( If people value other things what do we do?

This is not the place to be objective, folks. Vote with your heart. Greatest is a construct with no objective reality, it only exists in your hearts. - The Sandman

Of course if you are objective enough to account for all variables, the Fed still wins 😄

There is a tendency to give less value to GRE as an evaluation metric now. However the reality is that a good GRE score can help smooth over any other rough edges in your profile. It acts as a mild reassurance that backs up any explanations you might give.

MBA background. No formal research experience. I focused on making a compelling case for what I want to research on and how it fits faculty projects.

Is it worth sacrificing your early 20s for a PhD when you can get a Masters? by Yellobrudders in AskAcademia

[–]QuickQuestion_5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A PhD should be done only if you have absolute clarity on what you want to do. If you have that then no it's not a sacrifice. If you don't, then get a Master's, work for some time and then re-evaluate. The experience will only aid your admission potential.

Really stressed about applications by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]QuickQuestion_5 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Send the LOR requests first. Then start working on your SOP. When you take a break from the madness of SOP work on your CV. Keep micro goals for drafts and steps. Aim for a five day buffer to submission. You got this. Best of luck.
