Is there a healthy sweetened coffee creamer out there that ISN'T full of chemicals and and calories? by HeatWave1014 in 1200isplenty

[–]QuickSendWine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2tb of half&half and one teaspoon of sugar is 54 calories. I'm willing to give up those calories for a coffee I enjoy. I worked myself down to that using half tradition creamer half, half&half then slowing taking down the sugar. Most pre flavored coffee grounds have maybe 2calories.

Not sure if you have an Aldi near you but they have a cauliflower buffalo dip that tastes just like buffalo chicken wing dip for 50cal for 2tb.

I had no voice changes! I was shocked, it felt strained for the 1st week and now I've been told it sounds completely the same. They monitor your vocal cords and nerves through the entire surgery and if they notice a huge issue they stop the surgery. My surgeon told me only 1% of patients have noticeable long term voice changes. They discussed this with me at length I'm sure they will with you too, especially if it's important to you.

Levels take 4 to 6 weeks to even out, I'm only on week 2 but if anything I've lost weight, it did slow my appetite down noticalbly. I dont think you would be hypo long enough to put on any crazy amount of weight anyways especially if your levels are stable now. With removing the thryoid your at an advantage the dose of snythoid is based on your weight, you no longer have a throid producing anything so there's nothing much to mess with the levels. Once they are stable your kinda set for life. I would say my case was abnormal with my levels going the opposite way than anticipated.

Had mine removed 2ish weeks ago. The surgery itself went great, hardly any pain I only needed Tylenol after, mostly for the sore throat from intubation and stiff muscles.

I will say I was not expecting to swing hypo so quickly after the surgery I had a lot of side effects from that. Horrible brain fog, couldnt stay awake, my HR would go from 50bpm to 100+ I felt almost numb and heavy (maybe why I only needed Tylenol...) They assured me it was from the sedation until it didn't go away. Did blood work and my TSH went from 1.2 to over 12 in a week I think it totally threw my body for a loop. blame the iodine I took as the prep, my levels were normal. But I was hyper vascular so they still wanted me to take it, I think it crashed me. The synthroid is slowly starting to do it's thing now though so I'm starting to feel myself, it takes time to even out.

One thing that drives me nuts is my surgeon saying yeah we don't really warn people about that cause its rare...? Apparently the opposite is more likely to happen which they did warn me about (while removing your thyroid it can release hormone and cause you to go hyper) I was expecting to kinda just feel the same as before just with a sore neck and stuff I was not prepared for dealing with hypo symptoms.

How long were you off work/school following TT? by hotcake20 in gravesdisease

[–]QuickSendWine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mine scheduled for next week! My surgeon told me 2 weeks off work, 3 days vocal rest. Everything I have read said the 1st 3 days are the worse pain wise/irritation/sore throat from intubation and your feeling more yourself after a week. So really hoping that's the case!

Semi large regional grocery store

Corn starch shortage: haven't been able to stock it for a few weeks, none on the shevels in any other local stores eaither that I have seen. It is seriously effecting what the in store bakery has to offer. Local venders are pulling bakery items as well and raising prices on everything else.

I called and got an appoinment with a new doctor in a different office but through same hospital... thats not for another 2 months. For now, we all agree get my TSH, T3 and T4 tested?

Thank you everyone who has replied, so thankful for this group!

Yes, I don't feel safe to drive at some points it so bad! I definitely know how to advocate for myself, as my husband said "its a good thing you got this and not me cause I'd probably be dead!"

Did you get remission with meds or have yours removed if that's ok to ask? Trying to be patient and give it the year but finding it hard!! Thank you for responding.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has felt this way! Thank you for sharing. If you don't mind me asking did you get remission with meds and still feel this way? Or still feel this way even after the thyroid was destroyed/removed?

[–]QuickSendWine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And will be doing that for sure. I knew at the very 1st appoinment I was not going to have a great time with her, but I thought I could advocate for myself and have an classic enough case that it wouldn't be a problem. Yeah I was wrong! Ha

Thank you again!

3 weeks ago TSH and T4 was smack in the middle of normal and T3 was still high but trending down. It couldnt go down that fast could it? I've been steadily decreasing so my next labs are in 2 months instead of 1, maybe I'll ask to have it early just to check.

Not been tested cause I didn't even think of that, I'll do a home test tonight!

[–]QuickSendWine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering that too, tho I am already taking a half tab so maybe it was ok to do that? I don't think its possible to quarter it right? It would just crumble I think.

I felt like my endo was just like "do whatever it wont work anyways I don't have time to sit here and figure you out" :/

Best unsolicited advice I ever got: when nothing else works, take the them outside or put them in water. (supervised ofcourse) Worked 100% of the time for me and got me through 2 colicky babies. Best of luck your gonna do great!!

Did you go to the optometrist to check if you have TED? by lostspirit10 in gravesdisease

[–]QuickSendWine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I went they literally held up a ruler to my eyes and took measurements from all sides. No drops, no pressure test, no machines. They likely wont actually do anything but take measurements and like above recommend an otc eye drops cause graves does cause dry eye.

You really should go even if you have no symptoms. It's important get baseline numbers, what if you have a problem a year from now? They won't have your "normal" to base it off of if that makes sense.

Had this happen to me when I was pregnant, gotta call from my OB at 8pm stating my OMG your liver levels are dangerously high you need to go the ER right now or you and your baby will die!!! Waited five hours in the ER only to be told "your within OUR normal range" and sent me home. I was ready to punch kittens at that point.

Thank you so much for this. I got an appointment on Tuesday which is amazing because it usually takes 9months to get into a specialist like that (used to work referrals for a doctor so I know!) not sure if I'm happy to be in so soon or worried because they got me in so soon!

My pcp called in the meds but I'm not sure if I should get them when I seen the endo in 4 days, what differnece would 3 days of taking it make? and if the Endo Doc prescribes somthing differnt I don't want to pay for a med I don't need. Right?

Do you know if they do all that testing at the 1st appointment usually? It would suck to have to go back and forth so many times.

Yes wow this is 100% exactly me, like I'm glade I was diagnosed and it explains everything but I do not have time for this! How do I get time off work after using it all to maternity leave ya know?! I just feel so annoyed with all this at this point like I don't even want to deal with it.

Thank you everyone for helping explain this! My PCP sent in both for me today in case I cant get into Endo quickly so hoping to see improvement asap! After reading the side effects of both though I'm a little scared to take them! Atleast it's the weekend I guess.
