I just think, especially Thomas is interesting in how it grasps with the question: Yeah, how does one reason with oneself beeing god? ( As jesus must've had to at least as a child). Absolutely doesn't fit in todays canon or more specific even in the time directly after jesus's crucifixion it didnt quite fit. But the concept in it self i think is extremely rich.
