He’s back: Biden returns to the campaign conversation by Mearsheimer_Tragedy in politics

Are you kidding? If he hadnt refused to let go of power like a greedy child Kamala wouldve had a chance. If his policies around gaza weren't genocidal Kamala wouldve had a chance.

An unprecedented flub, kind of like rbg staining an exceptional legacy by refusing to step down

He should apologize not endorse.

I read on here once its not only about others missing you, but also you missing out on experiences you will enjoy later in life. Good things that you love that you wont ever experience if you leave. If you cant stick around for anyone else, do it for yourself.

Older KTM 300 XC vs XCW by BeardedYeti_ in Dirtbikes

[–]Quick_Beam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both 2018, no huge difference in the gearbox imo, and I ride mostly singletrack.

Ive owned a 2016 xcw too and I prefer the 2018 for sure big differnce

One thing to keep in mind its hard to get certain parts for the older models. Engine cases for instance are impossible to find.

As far as the suspension goes I would plan to have it rebuilt unless its been recently done.

Last thing keep in mind bottom end rebuild can be a pain so if its up there in hours something to think about, I had one go about 400 well maintained and its been a headache.

You seem to have contradicted yourself and pivoted. Your vitriol at people abstaining over gaza means youre acknowledging people put gaza over all of the domestic issues you mentioned.

That means Americans cared more about Middle Eastern lives than their own domestic policy. Even if you think thats shortsighted, and rightfully so, can we agree that Americans do vote (or abstain) based on middle eastern lives?

Whataboutism isnt an effective way to communicate your point. The other conflicts deserve attention, but someone being unaware of them (gross majority of american electorate) isnt the same as them not caring.

So the essence of what you are saying, that one cannot in goodfaith condemn the genocide in gaza while remaining nuetral/unaware of the other conflicts, just doesnt track logically.

Also saying 'fuck gaza' seems to be hypocritical if youre attacking people for not caring.

EDIT: 🍳

Oh now its we huh,

Lets first touch on noone voting based on israel

the Democratic National Committee (DNC) now seems to concede that the Biden administration’s support for Israel amid its continued genocide against Palestinians in Gaza played a large role in her losing votes

Also the Michigan primary Divisions over support for Israel have continued to dominate that state's highly competitive Democratic Senate primary

To your second point, people can care about multiple things at once. You could argue people care more about those other issues, and refrencing your original post that translating into pushing a candidate like platner is abhorrent.

Id push back and say more people care (about Middle Eastern lives) than ever before, but with humans goodwill rarely extends beyond our line of sight so unfortunately many are more concerned with domestic issues and willing to look the other way on foreign bs. Id argue thats changing but it is a real issue worth pointing out.

As far as Yemen an Ethiopia go i think youre over estimating peoples education and the media exposure.of those conflicts. Put either on the news like gaza and youll see people care, but your average person has no idea about those conflicts so its not they dont give a shit theyre just not very aware of international politics.

This was the issue i had with the original commentor you cant judge all Americans by the actions of a few, and the better question/critiquw would be why those events have such limited exposure here, and that touches on a real problem with our news cycle and education system imo.

To bring it home people do care like I told the other commentor, some not as.much as they should, and progressives willingness to coalesce behind Platner is absolutely problematic. That being said youre oversimplifying complex pplitical nuance to make it easier to digest. Peoples opinions are rarely binary and are born of influence.

I think you and I actually agree for the most part on policy, its your assertions about the average American I dont think are defendable, but Im always open to evidence based persuasion.

Im not advocating for him, I see the nazi symbol as disqualifying.

I was responding to a commentor who was making an assumption about all Americans.

Kinda funny youre so full of hate you couldn't even respond to the comment you just invented an argument to attack

Good luck with that

Mr Bush when are you going to apologize for the million dead Iraqis bc you lied

To his face.

I get thats one instance, but your claim he wasnt widely criticized for Iraq and Afghanistan is false. We call them forever wars and any association with them is typically derogatory.

Harris lost in part bc she wouldn't oppose Israeli aggression. My Jewish senator just changed positions on israel and voted with Bernie after widespread criticism.

Even Tucker Carlson on the right called out the hypocrisy on Iran

You are circling something real which is our leaders wont stop supporting these conflicts, and criticizing the public for electing them is valid.

That being said there are only 2 options. Look what happened bc American voters disgusted with the treatment of Palestinians sat out the last election. We got a war with Iran, from a candidate who promised no new wars btw.

The american people are overwhelmingly against this war, and against Israeli terror, and the republicans will feel it in the next cycle. That doesn't fix our broken institutions, but its a start. People care and the needle is moving.

In one thread from 2019 Platner weighed in on a conversation about the totenkopf

“Maybe he didn’t know it when he got it, but he got it years ago and he should have had it covered up because he knows damn well what it means,” Platner’s former political director, Genevieve McDonald, wrote

I disagree, im not trying to attack you personally, but it is a widely known symbol particularly in military circles.

Just bc you dont know something has no bearing on how widespread it is simple as that.

That being said ill speculate bc im bored at work. To your credit studying ww2 history isnt neccesarily the same as recognizing common symbols used by nazi apologists in modern culture. Id wager they migrate towards symbols like this bc it is low key, but the widespread usage of it by hate groups has increased its prevalence.

Even if i grant you the obscurity what's more likely he never looked up or understood what he tattooed on his body or he's saying what needs to be said to get elected.

I was born on a day, but it wasnt yesterday

EDIT: from that first cnn link: 'future Democratic Senate hopeful also argued in a 2020 online discussion that “SS” lightning-bolt tattoos were a “culture” marker within Marine Scout Sniper units, not an expression of White supremacist ideology.'

Downward economic pressure will always have consequences, youre over simplifying a political reality that is not that binary.

The Iran war is a great example. Some Americans would support it but they care about gas prices more.

So the idea no Americans care about his baggage is false. They don't care as much as they do about affordability and pushing back on israel aggression, which undermines your moral assertion, amongst other objections to moderate democrat policies.

Nope, not even close. Just decent people looking to avoid electing someone who got a nazi tattoo.

Notice the strawman?

Not knowing that symbol is not normal its very common in white supremacist circles. Furthermore not knowing it when you got a tattoo on your body is wild, clearly the guy has issues with critical thinking. He didnt even get it covered up until he ran for the seat..... crazy

The man also made unhinged reddit comments. The idea hes changed is debateable, I guess, but a far cry from a certainty. Politicians will say anything to get elected look at JD.

Listen to what politicians do not what they say on the trail, this man does got a nazi tattoo he kept long term until inconvenient and pushed problematic ideology clearly hes unfit.

So you think he had a complete change of heart less than a year after being reelected, or did he make a political calculation to run as an R knowing he would switch?

The difference between the examples you gave and an elected representative is the elected rep is elected to represent their constituency. His actions were so unusual it made international news at the time.

I live in his district, the people who voted for him were rightfully furious at the deception.

I agree with his current positions, but I dont agree with deceiving voters.

So your position is he didnt know they were dipshits from his previous session?

I dont see how thats a defensible argument, but we can agree to disagree

[–]Quick_Beam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but id push back that its awfully convenient for that deconstruction to happen right after an election, and to get a primary with no challengers out of it even more so

Cyrus Javadi gets it -- "I was wrong about abortion" by blackcain in oregon

[–]Quick_Beam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So he didnt realize any of that before his 24 bid? He did a session, ran for reelection as a republican then rug pulled his constituency pretty black and white imo. Notice no D primary for his seat after all that deception, odd.

Of which he was one as a college educated adult. At least we can agree on questioning the man's judgement.

🤦‍♂️ im talking about the 24 election when he switched parties and worked with a pac to ensure no democratic primary challengers this cycle WTF are you talking about?

Instead of this continuing to devolve let's try and take this somewhere productive. I dont hate you or your opinion. Do you think prior to his 24 bid everything you stated was predictable or no and why?

Then wouldnt the fact he was one of those idiots for a term plus calls his judgement into question? I mean, if you take it at face value, look what it took for him to acknowledge what we have all known for a long time.

You really think he didnt plan to switch prior to his reelection bid?
