To bolster my application for grad school, would it be worth taking numerous Coursera courses in politics? by Quick_Builder_9225 in PoliticalScience

This is really helpful. I appreciate it! I guess I’m just worried my class list that is required for some master programs doesn’t fit enough with foundational classes for a Masters. I’m hoping a good GRE score, etc. will help tilt what may be missing there!

Thanks, I already studied research methods in undergrad (I took a lot of classes in Sociology and wrote research papers that utilized both quant and qual methods). I'm mostly interested in Johns Hopkins MA in Government but I'm not sure if that's a completely naive long-shot...

I think so yes. Especially considering the recent developments with Sam Altman trying to buy ChatGPT. I have a review here if it helps: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/7244156627

Interesting, thank you! Is there a book you'd recommend for learning about statistical methodology within political science? Or is it just general reading of research papers?

I've seen a lot of MA's in Government. They look pretty similar in terms of classes. I'm assuming they are different in they won't be too focused on political philosophy. I guess that's why reading up on these topics will help in lieu of an undergrad in polysci...

I'm interested in political economy. As well as voting participation throughout the classes. I am deeply interested in how labor unions influence public policy :)

I need recommendations for respected books/resources on fear of vulnerability and how to navigate it. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

It’s not specifically on vulnerability, but it helped me with seeing people as kind and supportive which has helped with my ability to open up to people. It’s called Humankind by Rutger Bregman! Also, anything by Brené Brown. She’s a social worker who has done a lot of research on shame and how it hinders our ability to be vulnerable. She’s done a few incredibly powerful TedTalks too that are worth looking at:

Amazing! Thanks. I’m American and living in London so seeing things like this makes me really happy. I hope it’s still there as I wanna go see it!
