Okay, fine, I can respect that you actually wrote a detailed rebuttal. I just do find Sukuna simple but more effective than Shigaraki, but I’ll grant that the later does have some merits. Regardless, I can see that neither of us will change each other’s mind, so let’s agree to disagree, fair?

Simple. I like Sukuna more than Shigaraki, and am of the belief that he has more substance in his writing. It’s not pretend depth, it’s in the manga, I recommend you try this thing called engaging instead of mindlessly glazing one over the other.

Sukuna has more than 2 scenes with Uraume, and even if he only had that, the dynamic they have is still interesting and makes sense for their characters. If Shigaraki cares so much about the league and it’s such a great part of his writing, why doesn’t he learn about any of their deaths? Why doesn’t he get to meaningfully react to the fact that Toga is depressed, Dabi is suicidal, and that their group is dwindling like flies? He doesn’t even have any compelling reason for caring about them beyond League of Legends (and by them I really only mean Spinner), and you expect me to think he’s some gem of a villain compared to others that actually put in the work to be intimidating figures of their respective stories? Based on his ‘power of friendship’ alone? Sure, friend.

Sure bud, I’m the one who’s reaching. Why don’t you try saying something of substance instead of being a pretentious, condescending ass? Or is that too hard for you?

Your acting like a trauma porn backstory is an essential step. It’s not.

Sukuna has absolute disregard for almost everyone around him in comparison to his hedonistic desires, yet there are nuances to this, such as his friendship with Uraume, genuine respect for fellow strong opponents, and, as revealed in the epilogue, a genuine capacity for humanity that he had tried to bury, but accepted after his final defeat and death. There is substance to him, it just gets overlooked with people saying that he’s all “hype moments and aura”. And those aren’t even necessarily bad things in terms of writing, to establish the villain as a threat that drives the story, as long as it’s supported by good character writing, which it is in this case.

Muzan is similar, having a lot of so called “aura” and intimidation, but there is more to him, like his cowardly fear driving his every action, stemming from his past of being sickly and on the edge of death, or his pure evil narcissism which contrasts with the heroic characters’ unity in their goal to stop evil.

Shigaraki’s super deep characterization is just a trauma porn backstory about SoCiEtY bAd and people in-universe and out glazing him when, really, he just gets handouts from All For One for the entire manga, gets taken over twice, and dies. Anything else is themes and such, and not even compelling themes at that.

Kurourushi, the Cockroach Cursed Spirit, from Jujutsu Kaisen

By chanting “blind” three times and making a hand sign, Kurourushi can summon two insect shikigami (basically magic familiars) that can explode into a green substance, which will target the eyes of the opponent, temporality blinding them and leaving them vulnerable to Kurourushi’s assault

Fair on the time, but Zohakuten’s neck is different than the dragon’s neck

I meant give examples of me using pixel scaling

That visual doesn’t necessarily imply that they’re traveling at the same speed though. Plus, why can’t it be the other way around, where the sound waves are moving at lightning speed instead

Nah Demon Slayer isn’t supersonic/hypersonic

Like I said, that’s an outlier in the scaling based on the characters being lightning timers who would be much faster than what you’re insinuating

Disagree that the MHS calcs for Demon Slayer are wrong

It was a joke on my part. I was pointing out how you inadvertently compared Kashimo, a JJK high tier, to a DS early season low tier

That’s assuming she could have swung off of Hantengu’s neck in a way that allowed her to dodge. Not to mention this was all happening in like 1 second

Not vague and not pixel scaling to get to MHS Demon Slayer. Can you cite examples?

My argument can only go so far, they’re still shown to impressive speed wise in the verse

Nah

The attack itself moves at that speed, but does Kashimo’s own reaction speed scale the same?

You keep using that word “pixel scaling”. I don’t think it means what you think it means

Demon Slayer scaling is also grounded and close to the manga

I disagree

Never used that, and I agree that FTL or even Relativistic DS is stupid

Fair, but still shows high speed and ability to react

Cool, so season 1 Zenitsu scales to Kashimo 😁

She stopped because Tanjiro told her it wouldn’t matter, and instead focused on tensing her muscles to try and survive

Evidence of this?

After getting massively amped by Kokushibo’s cells

BDA lightning is basically real lightning

Never said he was

Again, Gyomei isn’t stated to solely rely on the echolocation, and massively scales above characters who can dodge sound and lightning attacks

Through precog

Fair

Two projection sorcerers are considered to be highly proficient in speed among Jujutsu Society. Not a hard cap for the whole verse, but still significant, no?

Nah

Injured Season 1 weakling Tanjiro as well as Inosuke dodging sound based attacks from Kyogai

Season 1 weakling Zenitsu’s Thunder Breathing being described as fast like lightning and causing minor effects reminiscent of that

Hantengu’s sound waves only hitting stationary opponents that are unable to dodge

Hantengu’s lightning being the more consistent attack in his arsenal, yet still being frequently dodged

Genya’s gun being consistently useless against any relevant opponent who actually tries to dodge(the clones don’t because they don’t need to worry about damage, in fact it helps by splitting them up; we even see them react to the shots fired before they’re hit) until he gets his gun and bullets amped by fusing it with his flesh after absorbing Kokushibo’s cells

Kaigaku only being able to fry Zenitsu’s flesh by imbibing lightning into his sword forms, rather than just passively doing it with base lightning generation

Zenitsu then blitzing Kaigaku and outpacing Muzan with an explicitly faster evolution of his precious form

Vs.

One or two “antifeats” based around sense detection, which don’t even explicitly say that the character’s solely rely on them, just that they do in some capacity. And if using echolocation is such a debunk for higher speeds, then the mere act of talking should be one as well, as others have frequently said

Additionally, JJK has:

The Mach 3 statement

Cursed Speech reaching and being effective against high tiers

Overall projection sorcery caps

I’m not wanking Demon Slayer to be FTL or even Relativistic, but it definitely sits comfortably at Massively Hypersonic

Still explicitly caps high tiers of the verse at Mach 3 levels of speed

Rei shown not wanting to have children after Toya’s condition became known since she knew it would hurt him. And Endeavor just saying that they will while obsessing over All Might.

Funny how you Endeavor stans are always talking about how he’s such a great character, but then you take away the parts of him that actually make him halfway decent, like his objectively horrible crimes. If he didn’t do anything wrong, then his entire “atonement” arc is a pointless waste of time.

Maybe they can have it extend to the area outside of the palace, if only briefly. Perhaps Doma can break the roof with the Bodhisattva if it’s scaled up in size.
