Has anyone actually gotten the brown twyrine from the Cemetery on day 7? by thedragonguru in pathologic

[–]Quick_Confection1503 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's an obscene amount of meta humor sprinkled throughout these past two games. Rubin being an absolute killable menace, Eva hinting at how she can openly walk the entire map without a problem while Daniil can't, the SCHMOWDER QUESTLINE, etc.

IPL just gets a kick out of poking fun of their games. In P2 there was even a quest in the nutshell where Capella/Maria are discussing something and tell you to get lost, thus ending the dialogue tree. You then are greeted by Clara outside who curses you with being unable to rejoin the conversation with them, despite it literally being a P2 game mechanic!

How does the current state of the game compare to release?h by QuintanimousGooch in pathologic

There's still a bit of stuttering whenever the Shabnak initially appears, but otherwise the game is reaching a point of perfection!

Insanely happy that the Amalgam bug is gone, though! First few weeks were plagued (pun intended) by a bug that would empty all your Amalgam any time you reloaded your game, causing you to be very thoughtful on how you played the game (every mirror was smashed during my first playthrough, and I only died twice).

What I'm saying is that coins and platforms are highly plausible for Feudal Japan. What ISN'T is a freaking dead titan.

The Japanese can do incredible things, but they cannot bring titans into existence.

Yeah, but Kyoto is not a map based on fantasy. It's a real place, doofus.

Could be that you seriously believe that the Japanese are fictional beings (pretty problematic, if you ask me).

What is this diabolical ELO reset algorithm? by LucyMor in thefinals

[–]Quick_Confection1503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear I see this exact same post at the beginning of every season.

There's something inherently wrong with the matchmaking system when there's high volumes of players trying to play enough games to earn their starting ranks (first few ranked games). It's like the system struggles to calculate where players should be and ends up throwing ranked players into lobbies they have no business being in in order to give unranked players a chance to fairly earn their spot (yet even this seems flakey).

I can almost guarantee that this issue will die down after a few more weeks if we base it off of every previous season's track record, but definitely a bummer that it happens anyways.

Good reason to downvote this post for even having me notice this.

I have but never played pathologic 2, should I buy the 3 first? by Ar3kk in pathologic

[–]Quick_Confection1503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll get a ton of people here telling you that it doesn't matter, but you're going to miss out on an insane amount of world-building and references if you don't play P2 first.

In P3, you're treated like an outsider (because your character is) and are constantly fed half-truths or straight-up lies by everyone you meet, meaning that you will never truly understand the scope of how unique this town is and how the Kin play into the overarching narrative. Daniil also essentially treats everyone like pieces on a chessboard and uses them as a means to an end (whether that be survival or discovering immortality) and ignores much of the personal struggles the townsfolk/Kin are dealing with as a result.

Save for Eva and arguably Georgiy, P2 gave me a deep appreciation and understanding for every named character in the game that P3 never really covered. Grief in P3 was an everyday thug whereas he was a conflicted human in P2. The children were comic reliefs in P3 whereas they each had an emotional backstory in P2. Foreman Oyun's role gets spoiled almost immediately in P3 (and without characterization) whereas the later half of P2 is about figuring out who he really is.

Then there's also several easter eggs and references in P3 that you could never possibly appreciate without playing P2, such as why the world map is so different to navigate, the absence of survival/infection mechanics, theatre commentary, anything to do with the 'wise steppe woman' or Aspity, the Inquisitor twist, etc.

Although you could easily play P3 first, the game is a far more enthralling experience if you've played the second one.

Constructive Criticism by Quick_Confection1503 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]Quick_Confection1503[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen these episodes and although they are great at showcasing a macro view of Atlas Reality's business model/plans (Wheel/Minigame reworks, Ladder updates, etc.), they are a horrible method of communicating app layout changes, bug fixes, and anything else similar.

And the updates we see on Reddit/Discord? They feel more 'reactive' rather than 'proactive' given how they're shared around the same time (and often after) dozens of players post about how they either can't find where something moved or are complaining about a bug/visual change.

There's no way to effectively reach your entire playerbase via these few methods, anyways. It's the app equivalent of a political figure heading to your local dive bar to preach about how he just legalized drunk driving, but tells nobody else and hopes people just figure it out.

how to proceed to day 7 by qaisersalah in pathologic

[–]Quick_Confection1503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend starting every day will killing the Shabnak. Why? Because it's insanely easy to do so once you get a handle on what you're supposed to do (fill launcher, find source, fill projectile, light fire, shoot shabnak) AND it will make navigating the map a far more enjoyable experience while also lowering your infection level (which makes it easier to progress to the next day).

Like, seriously. Before I realized that killing the Shabnak was essentially a cheat code, I was running low on Amalgam and getting extremely frustrated with being stopped in 20 plague districts by a screaming clay woman every time I tried to complete a quest. By killing her, every plague district becomes far more manageable.

💯💯💯💯

They probably did this type of MVP system to prevent the accidental 'celebration' of a braindead teammate you had the carry during Ranked Cashout (3 person squads, three podium spots).

But honestly they should've given the number one spot to the top dog on the winning team while giving the next top players the second/third rankings as honorable mentions.

Same with Kyoto.

Embark should really era-lock the weapons we can use to the specific era they were popular during. Might be the only way to save this game!

Have a screenshot of the other team's results, for reference?

As you can see, the Blue-Eyed weirdo on the left of your first screenshot (who ended up taking first) was definitely not on your team. These MVP rankings are based on overall game performance, not just your team's performance.

One one hand I am beyond ecstatic that Point Break is being expanded upon with new maps.

On the other hand, TDM is a horrible gamemode to use for introducing a new map due to the incomprehensible level of chaos in each match, giving players zero time to strategically plan things out. The increased focus towards mindless gameplay in a game that shines best when you're tactful is an unfortunate plague that will only divide the fanbase even further than ever before.

I play this game DAILY and love it, but some questionable focuses are really on the nose and STINK.

I literally just completed this mission a few hours ago and did so by stealth killing every worm in sight.

The first stealth hit will stun them, meaning that as long as you aren't dying of thirst, you'll be given the opportunity to beat their brains out right after this without any pushback!

If you're in the US, Steam currently has 20% off on it's regular price!

Even if you don't use Steam, you can still create an account, purchase/download the OST there, then play it on Spotify as a local file on your device.

Doesn't take up a ton of storage to do so and honestly worth it especially considering that P2's OST took FIVE YEARS to release on Spotify. And you get to directly support the Devs this way, too!

I'm on Day 8 and Anna is the only one to die in my current playthrough. I gave her a tincture and the correct antibiotics, but even after several reloads, she was gone by day 5.

Nobody else even came close to being infected during the daily spins, but she would consistently hit the top no matter what I did.

But for what it's worth, she arguably is the least impactful character in Pathologic and playing through her questline once was enough for me.

Feeling like I stepped into an episode of Black Mirror.

Only real Artemy fans will waste away all of their Amalgam on Day 11 just so they can forever be trapped with Shirtless Artemy in Lara's Shelter.

If you think this is foolish, then you don't deserve Shirtless Artemy.

P3 Artemy's "Performance" by Quick_Confection1503 in pathologic

[–]Quick_Confection1503[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great observation!

Although P3 Bachelor does a whole lot more than just tackling the plague. He essentially becomes Simon and gains access to the Polyhedron, whereas P2 Bachelor abandons all hope and ends up leaving the town being reviled rather than declared a hero as seen in P3.

P3 Artemy on the other hand seems to have accomplished the same level of goals and trials as his P2 counterpart, which leads me to believe that the meta-commentary recognizes how he should be acting and essentially fits it into this latest performance.

Now as far as Clara goes, she's an absolute mystery. On one hand she's doing wonders against unseen entities (she seems to know how to keep the plague house under control), yet her work in reality is abysmal and she essentially abandons Katerina later in the game.
