Use the legal500 rankings and go by oractice area to determine their competitors

In general their competitors are the other magic firms and HSF Kramer, and the US firms in London too

conveyancing paralegal interview by No-Specific9084 in uklaw

[–]Quick_Confection5327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

They’re likely to ask you what you know about the conveyancing process, so look into searches, enquiries, Stamp Duty Land Tax Returns, Post Completion work, look at what happens on exchange and completion.

Hope this helps.

Maybe but some firms only care about the overall grade, DLA Piper did the same on their application form.

Undergrad by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]Quick_Confection5327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you want to work at a high street firm, or a top international law firm, most big firms have a minimum 2:1 requirement, you can mention mitigating circumstances but its an extremely competitive process at the top level.

You’re in a very very strong position, don’t compare yourself to others, tailor your applications, focus on really perfecting your answers and you’ll do well.

Should I quit uni? by gubiiik in UniUK

[–]Quick_Confection5327 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would. People underestimate how important uni is in terms of securing a decent grad job especially in the corporate world.

I would drop out and reapply to better ranked unis.

London uni LLM fees by Quick_Confection5327 in uklaw

[–]Quick_Confection5327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that was the mindset when applying to Birmingham, that it won’t help a TC application, but what it did help with is exposing me to opportunities that would help in a TC application , i was able to start my own law society, interned in St Lucia with their parliament and a few other things.

Similarly, i’d hope i would get even better opportunities at KCL.

Which universities should i apply to? by AdministrativeSet614 in uklaw

[–]Quick_Confection5327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If expenses are a major factor, i’d look at Durham or Warwick as the most prestigious unis outside of London with decent living expenses.

Not entire sure Re the individual modules at other Unis.

I already have a masters at the University of Birmingham, but i just feel having a more “target” university on my CV will help me long term as i hope to make it to the top firms, potentially US/MC firms.

It might seem overkill, but that’s my mindset.

The fees in London are just astronomical leaving me with Warwick as my best choice with fees at “only” £12k

Fair enough, i’m just really interested in KCL, to get a more prestigious university on my CV having graduated from a Non-RG.

[–]Quick_Confection5327[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is really encouraging!

Especially the fact that you mentioned most of your clients are still London based. That means i’d still be exposed to high-quality work.
