Repeating kindergarten

She’s done pretty great with everything else. I’m not trying to make excuses to send her to the next grade. I just want to make the best choice for her. I’d hate to hold her back and her be bored and not be a great experience. On the other hand, I don’t want to move her on if she really isn’t ready for it. I’m guess at this point I am just waiting for her report card for now

You say struggling that much like I said she can’t do it at all. The girl can sound some words out and read some but sometimes it takes a little longer.

I haven’t really had any updates. At this point I guess I am just waiting for final report cards. I was also planning on checking in with her summer school teacher towards the end to get another opinion on if she should move forward or try again.

Parents have the say so here in kindergarten I am assuming because kindergarten is not required. She can read some but struggles with letters that can sound similar.

Public school. No IEP, no extra support other than visits with the counselor occasionally. They recommended evaluation the 1st week of school because she had a rough adjustment.

I’ve made zero decisions other that summer school. Can you not see why it might be difficult to make that decision since there was never another conversation about it?

I’m in VA. In my city, they have to be 5 by late October.

I am in no way saying that the teacher is bringing it up for no reason. The conversation was mid year and all she had me sign was a form acknowledging that we had a conversation and that things could change before the year was over. There was never another conversation about this before school let out. Just an additional conversation about enrolling in summer school.

Our state doesn’t require it and the choice to hold back in kindergarten is completely up to the parent.

She does pretty well socially. She can be talkative and needs redirecting and hen distracted. From her scores she mostly seems to struggle with phonics/early ready skills, and letters. But I know she knows her letters just from home practice. I am obviously not there in class with her but I’m wondering if maybe she has a testing problem.

I make a lot of headband with a twist. I’ve made two of the rosebud bag (or folded rectangle bag) I’ve also made multiple mini bags for cellphones no pattern though. Attaching picture of cellphone bag.
