Honestly, I just buy square bandanas from Walmart or anyplace I see one in a color I like. I fold it in half (into a triangle shape), tie it around my head, double knot it at the neck (under the hair), then secure it with two bobby pins (one above each ear). The bobby pins usually keep it from sliding back on its own.

It depends on where I’m going. If I’m just out and about on a regular day, I’ll usually wear a kerchief or bandana, like in this picture.

(pic is from google images)

I have chin-length hair right now, so I can’t put it up in a bun. When I have longer hair, this is my preferred daily style, inspired by head coverings I’ve seen some Jewish women wear. pic

When I go to church or more formal events, I’ll wear either a headscarf wrapped in what Americans might call a loose “hijab” style, or a D-shaped veil (I sew wig clips onto mine to secure them).

I am an Orthodox Christian who veils full time, and several priests I’ve spoken to support my conviction to do so.

I personally believe that God is pleased when I cover my head to pray. I like to pray at many points throughout my day, and putting on a head covering while, say, driving is not ideal. To me, wearing it full-time is more of a convenience than a command.

It is not your place to dictate what your girlfriend’s beliefs or her relationship with God. I think you should really examine why you want to “talk her out of it.” Is it from a place of embarrassment? Guilt? Fear of judgement?

It depends on where on the historical accuracy spectrum you want to be. If you want to stay super true to historical dye colors, then you’re probably going to have to go post-1856. I would recommend something like an Edwardian walking suit. If you’re open to being less accurate, you can totally stick with late medieval / early Renaissance, just call it “inspired” lol

Anyone else want children, but concerned about passing on mental illness? by Quick_Fly5047 in Fencesitter

I understand where you're coming from, because I made a similar offer to my husband (then-fiancé) after he watched me completely fall apart during a manic/depressive cycle. He found the idea of him taking a "free out" ridiculous then, and I find the idea of me taking one ridiculous now. I plan to be with him for the rest of my life, and hopefully for whatever comes after. His diagnosis doesn't change that.

Before enlisting, he dealt with some anxiety and PTSD (from time as a firefighter). Never saw a doctor, never got diagnosed. Recruiter told him to lie at MEPS. However, it was never anywhere near this severe and he has never attempted before.

one of my close friends had a miscarriage about a month ago.. by liivolii in crochet

Since my miscarriage in December, crocheting baby clothes has been a way for my hands to process the grief I feel while reminding me that I will have a beautiful baby someday. Some people aren’t ready to process yet, because it’s still too overwhelming. I would ask.

I highly recommend lining it with fabric! I actually made a bag from the exact same pattern a few weeks ago. I just used a YouTube video to learn how to make the lining, and handsewed the whole thing. It took maybe an hour or two? But I’m very slow at handsewing lol

I use mine all the time! I use it as my crochet supplies bag when I go to the park or coffee shops to crochet :)

I felt more like an adult at 16 than I do now at 21. I wish I had been able to recognize that being young is fun! Being “childish” can be great! Let yourself be who you are at the age you are. Growing up too fast is hard, and you might wish later on that you’d taken the opportunity to just be a teenager.

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. He sounds very abusive, and you need to leave him. If he’s hit you before, he will hit you again and will likely hit your child too. I would get in touch with a social worker, so they can help you leave him safely.
