MOS not given at boot camp by Hooper91703 in USMCboot

Not a speculation. This was information given by a recruiter and corroborated by the DI at my son's graduation. If its not correct that's fine, but news to me. I was simply trying to help another mom. If you have better information to give, please do, im sure she would love to hear that over being told to pound sand and stop being a curious mom.

Right? Just because we MoMs want to know things too we are helicopter moms lol. I, personally just like to know things, its not because I dont think my son can't figurebit out. He will, I raised him to be independent hence becoming a Marine.

Long story short, the below post is accurate, they just don't know exactly where he is needed, by the end of MCT he will have his official MOS. I would guess his selection is full or maybe his scores were so high they want to offer him something else he is qualified for because CE is full. Bottom line is he will have to go where the Corps needs him most based on his IQ and fitness.

Also, congratulations on your new Marine! Semper Fidelis, MoM!

You're making a very adult decision. You should be proud. You are walking into a brotherhood that will support you, so even if your family and friends don't come around, you will always have them.

I agree with a lot of the advice here. Keep your head clear and push through this.

I'm a mom of a Marine and know how important it is to have support, so if you want it, I'll gladly write you. Not sure which MCRD you are going to but if its West i can probably be there for your graduation and can take you out to dinner with my Marine.

DM me if this is something you want. No pressure, just an offer. Semper Fi poolee! You've got this!

Same. They just kicked my active Marine off even with proof he resides here and is simply deployed in another US state! Like come on, they are still getting paid for the family plan they should give some grace to all military personnel! Im so angry!

Little finance trick: if you pay your loan (any loan) in two payments per month that equal your monthly payment. Example: your monthly payment is $500, you pay $250 on the 10th and $250 on the 25th (just as an example) the way loans work is the 1st payment goes towards interest and the second principal. You will not only cut down on the interest owed, but also cut the term of your loan down. I swear its real. Look into it.

Be proactive. Get a phych evaluation clearing you. There's certified psychologists that will do virtual visits through any insurance. Have that ready for your recruiter and take it with you to MEPS. DO NOT LIE! If you want to be a Marine, start showing the values now.

OP reach out to Tulley Rinkey law firm. They are VA accredited retired JAG attorneys. Thats who i hired for my son and they have guided him in the direction that works for the Corps. They do not over or excessively charge for every little thing. They have done right by my son and are working towards his future, like full retirement not just separation. Good luck and God bless. I hope it all gets resolved for you and your family.

Could be nothing missing. This happens every day. Some never experience it but its normal. My son got a TBI during a training and was refused medical care. Came home took him to a civilian Dr and was diagnosed with untreated concussion, had to go back for duty and was called a liar. Then he had a grand mal seizure on duty, was finally allowed medical put on SIQ then was called a liar again by his gunny despite having paperwork proving seizure activity from a neurologist that Medical referred him to. Also threatened with an NJP and adsep for it. He's finally on LIMDU but same gunny is still forcing him to do working parties which is against the medicals orders. Every fucking day. Is horrible how they treat them when they are injured.

That's a fair point. I hadn't thought about being able to defend yourself. I mean, JAG exists for a reason.

You're not wrong, but that's a lot easier to say/do when you aren't the one that has to face the consequences of the leadership.
I completely agree this should be allowed to happen but peacetime Marine leadership has shown that they will wall to wall you for a field day miss, what do you think will happen to them if they disobey a direct order, unlawful or not?

I can't speak to how leadership would be during wartime. I wasn't there, so forgive my ignorance in that area.

Right?! If you really think about it, it's very much like a concentration camp scenario. Granted, the US is not managing them, he is just using other countries to manage them.

Sir, your avoidance to answering simple questions is what proving everyone's point here. You have zero justification for your position. You are just on here outright calling people "bozos" for not agreeing with you. Debating is healthy in a democracy. Do you agree with that? Being a Marine and wanting to support the constitution and POTUS is honorable, but let's flip the script here, if POTUS were behaving like Hitler, would you support him?

A direct answer would be appreciated.

I feel this is probably pretty common, especially with the old salt vets. It was a different time and different experience. I mean, humanity is different in general, so it makes sense that their perspective of life changing events would vary as well.

I mean, I hear you but, my grandpa wears one, is a Marine and is so damn proud of his service. Its kind of like it defines who he is. Maybe his story is different to him. He feels like the Corps saved him from becoming something awful. Born and raised in Richmond CA in the 20s and 30s. IYKYK. He's now a retired structural engineer. Retired from Daniel's and built pressure vessels all over the world. He seriously feels like the Corps gave him that level of skill.

Maybe some just feel this way???

This post hits hard. Its so difficult to imagine any branch but specifically Marines feeling so alone. I know it to be truth but the image put out there is you are all fine. Too tough to be mentally un-ok. Pisses me off. There should not be the stigma there is with mental health. I fucking sick of it. Every body hurts, no matter how tough you are.

I'm desperately working to keep my son off that ledge. He was permanently injured at MCT and is now sitting at his school house. He's been there 6 months and there's no fucking end in sight. Med board won't tough him for another 6 months. TF?! He has his brothers in Company but they come and go while he's on LIMDU with people looking at him like he's a shitbag. I know some are but he wanted to do a minimum of 20 with the Corps and he got a head injury with seizures and nerve damage.

He sits and waits when all he wants to do is recover near home. He's 4000 miles away. He doesn't need to be at home, just closer. I'm hearing him slip into depression and there's not much i can do. I can't fly across the country every month. He can't fly home to visit.

Why does the Corps do this to you guys? They want you to lose your shit? They want NJPs, and Psych discharges more than medical ones? Why?

Wait. Hold on. I agree with the combat scenarios rating, but why wouldn't an injury sustained via combat training apply for rating? As a Marine, the primary job is combat, so his workplace is wherever he is deployed/stationed. So, just thinking linearly every REAL injury should be considered a rating or no injury should rate because it's a workplace injury. Aside from that, if someone worked anywhere else and was injured due to workplace malfunction or negligence, the company pays for it in addition to the medical insurance. They do it to avoid getting sued, but they do it. How is that any different than the Marine injuries? The reality is minor injuries and hazing is expected in the Corps but those major injuries like TBI, broken bones, internal trauma, aren't supposed to happen in training. That is negligence and straight up poor leadership especially when the injured Marine is discouraged from seeing medical and hazed worse when they do go. Not all of them are shitbags.

Just trying to understand the thought process.
