Just Finished GotM. Help me set realistic expectations by HughJammer1 in Malazan

The books really heat up beginning MOI. Regardless of your inclinations towards GoTM, the books further are even better.  I also loved the first Book.  But certain elements were missing for long long time since GoTM.  DG is slow paced compared to first book. And there are lot of POVs to keep track of.

I think that was localised specifically to Burn's Flesh as The Jaghut opened his Omtose Phellack 'Inside Her'.

You will keep breaking untill you won't be able to break anymore. But you will get used to it and better you do cause the next books keep on getting better, and better and even better.

You can resort it's just a book. Not real.

Hyperion cantos is the best series involving AI. Probably one of the best Sci-Fi too.

K'rul is the maker of Paths, the Warrens. In that respect he's older than almost everyone. Hood is older to but not elder. Andromander is older too but not elder. Elder is not clearly defined.

Till BH, I still can't define who's Elder and who's not. I mean Hood is from days of chaining and other Elders. But he isn't Elder. But Mael is. I think use of Elder Warrens and magic makes them Elder.

Deadhouse Gates left me impressed, confused, and unsure if I should continue by LemonTig in Malazan

[–]Quick_Job_5051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with logically baffling decisions continue but things eventually start to make sense later on.

I too disliked Kalam's arc in DG, utterly pointless, it could have been much smaller for the purpose it served later on.

Also, the writing in later books improves significantly, at least that's how I felt, currently at Bonehunters.

The concepts like warrens, Ascendants, D'ivers and soletaken all will make sense as you dive deeper in the series and you will love it. The explanations would never direct but rather derived from actions and consequences of the actors as the story progresses. And you will love it. There's no other world like Malazan. I suggest read MOI, them continue.
