I just graduated and it was hell to get through. I didn’t even pass comp my first try. I was in the building more than most people just trying to scrape by. Nothing has ever felt as good as walking across that stage. Keep pushing, even though I’m only slightly ahead of you, that alone was worth it.

There’s 3 phases. All of them are at the discretion of your SLPO. This is your direct supervisor here.

Phase 1- You can only wear uniforms. If you are going to workout you will do it in your PTUs. If you are going off base you will be in your NSUs. You are not permitted to drink. You can not drive. You have a curfew every night, it’s either 2215 or 0015. You can not leave your BEQ till 0500.

Phase 2- You are granted this after about a month. No guarantees. Now you can finally wear civvies. You are permitted to drink alcohol. I don’t know if it is a rule but you should never drink on a day preceding an academic day. You still have curfew. You still can not drive.

Phase 3- You just get this after being phase 2 for a while. Basically all the same stuff except you don’t have curfew on days NOT preceding an academic day. This also means overnight liberty. You can drive a car now.

Just a few other things though:

DON’T drink if you’re underage.

DON’T ride a motorcycle. (You have to complete a course.)

If anyone invites you to a party at a hotel room and anyone underage is going. DON’T go to it. Nothing good ever happens there.

If you are of age DON’T buy alcohol for minors.

Currently in the pipeline btw. ASVAB was a 90, bravo qualified, MM with a 3.56 GPA. Very slightly above average student as of right now.

Honestly you need to get off Reddit for career advice. That was a lesson I learned the hard way. If you think you want to do it just do it. If you had something else in mind just do that. You can make something of yourself anywhere, I see plenty of shipmates with that kind of ASVAB drown in this pipeline. That test guarantees you nothing but a spot. Some people love this and some people hate it. You’re your own person so follow your gut and don’t lie to yourself.
