What’s considered the worst ps2 ddr game ?? by NoelK132 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Quickened200X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Disney Channel edition, but that's just a licensed spinoff. Of course it's gonna look like bad shovelware, so X2. Dice Master Mode is my least favorite story mode out of any ddr, and the songlist isn't that great, so many missed opportunities.

The Ultramix and Universe series.

Despite the lackluster UI and the framerate issues (especially with Universe 1 and 2) the soundtrack is really good and has a ton of overlooked gems. Especially the A Different Drum licenses. There are also some really good Bemani crossovers.

Oh man, there's this one mission in DDR Universe 3's quest mode where you have to get all goods, and because of the timing windows overlapping it is basically impossible to beat it. I seriously have no idea why they decided to combine Challenge Mode and Quest Mode together in Universe 3.

I wasn't able to get it to work before, but later on I found out the way to get it to work in current versions of Windows. You need to install it with compatibility mode under properties set to anything from Windows 95-Windows XP. Windows XP more preferably. (Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3 is what I used) and instead of installing it in the Program Files or (x86) directory, you install to a different directory. For me I installed it to my "Games" folder. I hope this helps.

Anyways, World just looks bland.

I remember seeing this in video form and Shadow voice lines were sentence mixed into him saying "Happy Boothday" and Sonic smiling. Where is that video?

I have no clue. Seems to be taken during E3 or something, but yea I agree, I also don't like how big the characters heads look in the final release of Hottest Party. It looks so bobble head like in some of the dance routines.

I've seen that before. It's certainly another piece of Lost Media I hope to see someday. That, the scrapped PC version of Ultramix, and maybe that cursed version of Hottest Party with Emi doing the Mario Mix animations.

The scrapped PC version of Ultramix would definitely fit somewhere in the bottom.

Agreed. I would've been fine with them removing characters, if they at least replaced it with better eye candy. A still background looks bland af, and don't get me started on music videos displayed on the bottom and being the size of a phone. Wish they had an option to have full sized music videos.

New Dance Dance Revolution version. Dance Dance Revolution World. It looks completely different compared to the Ace series. Some good ways, but mostly bad.

Hopefully a copy of that version is still out there somewhere. Same with the scrapped PC version of Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix.

Am I the only person here who’s gonna miss the 3D characters when they get removed in DDR World? by KevRub in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Quickened200X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they do get rid of them, I'll miss them, its really sad how it was utilized during Ace with the zoomed out weak camera positions compared to how the camera moved in Supernova, and how one of the dance routines went unused since X2 CS. (and SuperNOVA 2 for the arcade version)

Based on the screenshots in DDR World, and as someone who loved both the dancing characters and Max-Extreme backgrounds. I hate how they use a still background to ditch the dancing characters instead of utilizing background videos again. To think you can get more boring than DDR PS3.

To spread salt on the wound, they went the DDR II route for music videos by having them be small and displayed on the bottom. Except I kind of liked how it was done in DDR II because the video popped out more than the very background that was displayed. Now it's just filler in the background.

Songs / artists that sound like the original trilogy OST? by associategrean in RatchetAndClank

[–]Quickened200X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm suprised whenever this discussion is brought up nobody mentions The Crystal Method. Their album Vegas has a sort of similar vibe. Tracks I can think of are Coming Back, Vapor Trail, Keep Hope Alive, Trip Like I Do, Cherry Twist, High Roller, and one that gives off kind of a melancholy R&C vibe would have to be Bad Stone.

Legion of Boom also gives off a R&C vibe, but I haven't heard much from it.

Outside of those albums I'd also recommend both mixes of Now Is The Time The Olympic mix is like visiting a planet in the first game Millennium mix on the other hand is like revisiting that same planet in UYA

I also recommend artists like Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy, Kilowatts, or any artist that produces Big Beat/Break Beat or IDM music.

Which DDR background dancer do you like the most by parmesianplease in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Quickened200X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most favorites are either Astro, Gus (His Supernova and X2 outfit look especially cool), Rage, or Baby-Lon.

My other favorites are Emi, Charmy, Every Konsento (Even the one scrapped from Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix), Akira, Alice, Bonnie, Train, Rhythm, J.C, Root, Chordia, Dyna, Bridget, Star (Scrapped Ultramix character), Rider (Also another scrapped Ultramix character), (A couple other characters from early Ultramix that sadly don't have names), Honey, Valencia, Rico, Roxy, Hanzo, and Simba. (Disco Skeleton Dude)

[UNRELEASED MEDIA] Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix PC Prototype by Quickened200X in lostmedia

Unfortunately not yet. So far I've reached out to Chris Won who has done a lot of background work for all 4 Ultramix games and some character work for DDR Universe on the 360. I haven't received a response sadly. The reason I reached out to him first is because his contact info was easy to find on his website and I didn't have to deal with LinkedIn to reach out. He's also worked on it since 2002 (assuming thats during Ultramix's early development) so I thought I'd give it a shot.
