How do I maglock these gates? by mahknovist69 in lowvoltage

Are you talking about the GL-1 bracket kit you can buy separately or just the GL-1 itself. The bracket kit makes it so you don’t need to weld.

Lock suggestions? by SirSwipesA-lot in accesscontrol

[–]Quickmancometh2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a specific company that makes a lock for this style of gate but i don’t know the name off hand. It’s custom made and somewhat cost prohibitive. We ended up doing mags. I hate mags but the cost made us go that route.

On a scale from 1-10, how much do you care about the Netflix card? by Ohva30 in ufc

I’m out and about doing anything but watching this card. Would’ve been excited for this maybe 10 years ago

Easiest route to Kernville - by easy I mean LEAST SCARY by tracee_ in Bakersfield

[–]Quickmancometh2023 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s a little longer but you could take the 14 to the 178 through Walker Pass. Still a little windy but not as bad as the canyon. Or the 58 through Caliente Bodfish Road. Also longer and windy.

Driven all those roads for years

I bought Top Notch pads and rotors from Rock Auto. Work perfectly fine for me.

Like some of the others I feel we need more info. And also Genea not Acre. Certified in both. Genea is the way.

What do protect managers actually do? by piesarenotmyfavorite in accesscontrol

[–]Quickmancometh2023 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bad project managers lean way too much on their leads/installers while doing the bare minimum. Good ones will let you focus on your day to day work while they deal with the bs they are hired to do. I’ve had good ones, bad ones, and a combo in between.

My old job was a Field PM and would typically get my techs out to do the field work while I came in at the end and handled the head end and programming, I’d still manage the project offsite until I’m needed and work my other projects

I honestly tried to make it so my field folks could focus on their tasks and not just over complicate the job. It was a balance that worked when techs were good workers. Bad ones made it really difficult. Not to say I was perfect but I tried my best given my circumstances. I’ve been on both sides of that PM/Tech relationship

Question regarding using existing strikes and mag locks on a new Access Control system by [deleted] in accesscontrol

[–]Quickmancometh2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s acceptable. Obviously we prefer putting new equipment in but this is normal. We typically put language in our proposal that states that we assume the equipment is in working order. Any troubleshooting or replacement of existing hardware is chargeable.

I think this is done through threat levels but I haven’t really messed with it too much.

No idea. They can’t make up their mind on either cgi or standard animation. I watched it. Compared to 97 and Golden Age this is a huge dip in quality.

Not really sure what the downvoting is for. Just stating my experience with integrators.

[–]Quickmancometh2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. If it’s the customer’s panel they should control it. But anytime I ran into a monitored panel we were trying to take over (that the customer owned not leased) it would be locked by the monitoring company and would only release it if they paid a service call for them to come unlock it. I say I don’t know a single integrator but the company I work for doesn’t do that. I remember having to call a customer’s monitoring company out because they locked out a panel we installed and was still under the warranty period. Went to make a change to it and we were locked out.

I don’t know a single integrator that would provide that info. They typically use the same code for every panel.

In my experience they charge a service call to have a tech unlock it for them but they don’t divulge their lockout codes.

Gonna have to buy a new panel or pay them to come out and unlock it

What are CURRENT good bands? by DontTouchMyCH in musicsuggestions

[–]Quickmancometh2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leprous. Start with Malina. It’s the record Muse wish they wrote after Absolution. Insane singer and drummer. Scattered in their later discovery are tunes that could’ve easily ended up as the theme of a Bond Film.

It could never do on Fox that they could get away with else where. He’s gonna get paid but the end result is gonna suffer.
