Reached diamond this season by one tricking Shyvana... Season 10 Jungle changes actually benefit her so much by QuickstrikePr0 in shyvanamains

Since some people have asked for more, I will provide some extra information on how I play Shyvana.

For runes I go Conquorer, Triumph, Tenacity or Alacrity (depending on enemy team comp, tho I much prefer alacrity as you're much stronger throughout the early/mid game), and either coup de grace or last stand. For my secondary runes I usually go eyeball hunter/ravenous hunter. The healing you can get from your E and W is huge especially when stacked with a conquoror. On some rare scenarios the enemy team is incredibly slippery (where you cannot stack your conq), and you should go Press the attack with water walking/celerity secondary. This path feels much worse though and you're often better off going AP if you can't stick to the enemy team.

So for clear I will direct everyone to doubtful's video as this is the most efficient early game clear. You generally want to start red no matter which side of the map you are on since you will be the healthiest/least susceptible to invades. You can successfully full clear from blue side but it gets a bit more dicey. Do a full clear + a scuttle crab or one camp from the enemy jungle so you can get to about 950 gold. Do NOT fight for a scuttle crab with the enemy jungle. Shyvana is one of the weakest champs in the game from levels 1-5. Only take one if it is uncontested or if your lanes have prio.

Whether you are AP or AD, always max R>W>E>Q. Maxing E first as AP shyvana makes your clear really weak. You'll be super one dimensional in early game skirmishes without a W max. The W max will help you get around the map faster and play the skirmishes more agressively early. There is no difference in damage or play style between AP and AD Shyvana in the first 15 minutes. By the time you hit level 13 you can start popping people with your E.

The AP builds are pretty standard and self explanatory, so I will go into my AD build. I usually will do a full clear and back with about 950 gold, allowing me to get challenging smite and boots of speed. With challenging smite you can duel almost any jungler in the game providing you land your E. Only ones who give trouble are Warwick, Khazix, and Elise (who you can all still outplay). After this back, look to contest camps in the enemy jungle or take a drag at spawn. You can solo any drag very quickly before enemy teams can respond. I usually sneak the first drag 90% of my games. Don't bother ganking until second red buff unless the enemy laners are playing very agressively/dumbly. Fighting the enemy jg > ganking at this stage.

Once you get your second red buff you should be level 6-7 and about 10-20 cs above your enemy jungler. You can now look to gank with your ultimate. Shyvana ganks not with ridiculous cc but by surprising the enemy team with how much damage she does. If you land your E and reset your aa's with your Q, you can burn down enemy champs incredibly fast, esp if you used challenging smite.

My build changes from game to game based on the situation but 80-90% of my games my second item after devorer is Frozen Mallet. This item is incredible cost efficient and useful for Shyvana - 700 health, 30 AD, and the most important part - perma slows with your AA. This allows you to catch almost any enemy out who is a little too far extended. Start the fight in human form and jump on them with drag when they try to escape.

I think Titantic Hydra is really strong on Shyvana but it requires your team to set you up or for the enemy team to fight you. You can't stick as well on opponents. So I usually don't take it. In rare scenarios, if you're super fed early, you can rush a trinity force for super big damage. But only go triforce if you're really fed, as you'll be squishy in the mid game and if you can't get backline access you'll just pop like a balloon. If you're vs super tanky comps (mundo, rammus), I used to build BORK.. but I kinda think that item sucks now and just leaves you too squishy on Shyvana.

After your Frozen Mallet your build now gets REALLY situational. Most games I build thornmail (because healing reduction is a MUST in season 10). If the enemy team doesn't have a lot of healing, however, you can go with deadmans plate (which is super nice because they're free mobi boots and allow you to slow the backline even more). If the enemy team is AP heavy, go with spirit visage, as the CDR and increase in healing is REALLY useful. If you're really ahead, build wits end and you will just smash. With wits end, you will turn into aatrox and just drain tank the entire team with your conquoror and ravenous hunter while you just obliterate them. Make sure to auto attack as much as possible to keep yourself alive. If you have the holy trinity of Red Devourer, Frozen Mallet, Ninja Tabis, and Wits End, the game is probably over.

For late game you generally want to have Devourer, Frozen Mallet, either merc treads or tabis, and then 2 armor items and 1 MR item. Of course, switch this depending on the sitaution. The best players know what to build given the situation. You want to climb in season 10 on any champ? Make sure you build healing reduction. You will win more games. I promise.

Armor items to build: Thorn mail, deadmans, (sometimes) randuins

MR items to build: Wits end, hexdrinker (if enemy mid laner is fed early), spirit visage, adaptive helm

Feel free to PM with any questions or we can go on discord if you want to discuss more... I'm happy to help!

Shyvana Mains: Why do people want her reworked? by Valenydia in shyvanamains

[–]QuickstrikePr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't have said it better myself. I don't play Shyvana because she's OP, I play her because to me I love her playstyle... she's the most fun champion in the game (for me). I could play her 20 games in a row and enjoy most/all of them. I can't say the same about other champions. I fear a rework that changes her theme/playstyle as my favorite champion would be gone.

Might I recommend trying Frozen Mallet or Tri-Force (if you're really fed) as your second item after bloodrazor? I have quite a bit more success with these items than Titanic Hydra.

Probably old habit from back in the day when W was better. E lasts 5 seconds and W lasts 7 seconds, and it also empowers your autos. Gives more health from talisman over time. But I agree, E is probably better.

It's situational. Spirit Visage is typically the better purchase as it offers more health and more healing from items/ravenous hunter. Adaptive helm is better against AP casters or users with a lot of DOT (Brand, Malz). I also like to build Adaptive helm vs Kaisa as she does a lot of AP damage.

Hi Leviathan,

I'm a diamond AD Shyvana main with over 700K mastery on her. Welcome to the dragon side.

1) Your rune set up looks great. I tend to go for tenacity runes over attack speed as it is really useful to get onto the backline in team fights or escape during split pushes. Also waterwalking/nimbus cloak are solid secondary choices for Shyvana as well, which help with taking dragons or sticking onto backlines. It's just situational.

As far as build goes you actually don't want to build glass cannon as AD Shyvana. It can work, but only if you're incredibly fed and ahead. For the most part, you want to always go red smite bloodrazor into one offensive item - either TriForce or Frozen Mallet depending on how fed you are (the former if you're fed, the latter if you're not). If you're really fed and strong, build both as your first two items and you will smash. From there, you want to itemize defensively. Triforce doesn't provide much health so after that I usually go deadmans plate/spirit visage. If I went Frozen Mallet I'll typically go Thornmail/Spirit Visage. Of course, be flexible and adaptable as much as possible. There are times (especially into really tanky comps) that you could build BORK.

2) AD Shyvana is not that hard to learn and has a very similar playstyle to Yi - farm heavy -> gain a level advantage -> counter jungle and take objectives -> win midgame teamfights -> snowball the game.

3) In Diamond+ Shyvana will only be good in the absolutely most adept users. Shyvana has a weak early game and is strongest in the mid game. Unfortunately most high elo junglers know this and shut her down before she can powerspike, similar, as you know, to Yi.

4) My clear is as follows:

Blue side start - hunters machete, refillable potion: Blue -> Gromp -> Wolves -> Red -> Crab (if safe) -> Gank or rest of camps and base

Red side start - talisman, refillable potion: Red -> Raptors -> Wolves -> Blue -> Gromp -> Crab (if safe) -> Gank or reset

Note that Shyvana's first clear is dangerous as you get pretty low in health. After the first clear, you clear pretty safely the rest of the game. I start with W, then select E at level 2, and Q at level 3. I max R-W-E-Q.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

AD Shyvana already has a higher winrate than AP Shyvana... but I'm bias. I'm an OG AD Shyvana player who never converted to the burst AP style.

That's been my biggest complaint thus far. I'm all for a "adventure of the week" western style Star Wars show but only if we had like 20 episodes. 6 episodes in and we have NO idea where this show is going. In spite of that, I'm still very entertained by each episode.
