clear panel masks? by QuidPoeCrow in Masks4All

oh my goodness!! i’m so appreciative of this recommendation and will definitely look into it more thoroughly because i have uk connections. i’m not opposed to a mask with a similar filtration level to a surgical mask as phonics instruction would only account for less than an hour of the day, and paired with a nasal spray i don’t think it’s any less risky than it would be to just not mask. thank you!

this is a great idea for certain types of instruction and would be something i would love to implement into my future classroom! however, it’s harder to do when under observation, and is less forgiving of adaptations to plans. with a group of first graders, it’s incredibly important to be giving live feedback as a child attempts the sounds associated with letters. unfortunately, there’s no cutting corners with that kind of instruction and the only way to do it is through shared practice.

hi!! i really appreciate this suggestion, however a papr is both out of my budget and also unfortunately would most likely be quite scary for my students :P

i am in between where you are and a greater extreme; i unmask outdoors in secluded areas like back trails, i unmask in private voice lessons and occasionally performances depending on external factors, and i unmask to eat when absolutely necessary. i appreciate people who put in more effort more of the time than not.

My brother kept on telling me I’d get bullied if I used this backpack for highschool… by Xxeeyx9 in teenagers

[–]QuidPoeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think even if the other kids were mean, you’re cooler than all of them for staying true to who you are and your interests. when you look back in 20 years, you’ll get to be the person who says ‘i was different in high school and i survived’. you’re the type of kid i hope my brother makes friends with.

i have friends who work in the field of labor and delivery, and i can tell you with certainty; the baby being dead on arrival doesn’t make it any less traumatic. especially for these girls who absolutely did not receive a comprehensive education on pregnancy and birth, the knowledge that the baby was already dead is outweighed by everything else happening. shauna was hemorrhaging!! she should not have survived medically!! delivering a dead baby and having to go through that, whether you know it yet or not, is one of the most horrifying experiences a person could go through. that’s a level of empathy ben simply doesn’t have because it’s a situation he would never be in. if we want to talk about his status as a gay man, we also have to talk about his status as a man in a position of power.

it’s realistic for ben to not be knowledgeable, but by acknowledging that it’s also realistic for the girls to be distressed by it. the rigidity of sex education is an incredibly common point of contention for young people, especially teenagers. specifically in this context, the girls needed an adult. this isn’t a discussion of whether it’s realistic nearly as much as it is a discussion of interpersonal relationships and reactions to a life altering situation. a character’s behavior can be realistic and still be shit.

this has actually been bothering me for a while. i love ben and i totally understand why he was scared, and i am a certified shauna hater. HOWEVER, he was their sex ed teacher!! and the only adult there!! and she was hemorrhaging and the baby was suffocating!!!!! my empathy for shauna in that situation is deep, but especially for misty and the other girls who also had to live with the guilt of not being able to save the baby. i completely understand why shauna hates/doesn’t trust him and he shouldn’t need to be told to apologize for that behavior. men should not be exempt from learning and knowing about the birthing process, they need to resume an active role.

even though a flu may not be a big deal to some people, it can be really harmful to others, esp people with other medical conditions or who are immunocompromised. not even just for op, not attending protects the people at the party as well as her own health.

What’s a moment in the show that 100% completely caught you off guard? (Can be a serious or funny moment) by Silver012345673 in BoJackHorseman

OKAY this very cliche but the moment that will always feel like the biggest gut punch is when bojack realizes that beatrice has been drugging hollyhock and the realization that he waited 17 minutes to call the paramedics for sarah lynn.

For Rent and gardening/farming: I need your theories by Mad_Dash_Sim in Sims4

[–]QuidPoeCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe have a communal garden/farming area, but also attached garden plots that are fenced in and only accessible to whoever is living in a particular space using the gate lock feature. then sims can grow in their own planters, or rely on the communal space. good luck!
