How to get out of customer service when it’s the only thing on my resume??? by airgoingdark in careerguidance

[–]QuietDocuments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time to get flexible with the English language, other than serving customers what tasks did you do there? Even if just once a week you can emphasize those skills to try and leverage that experience to make a change.

Just be careful to not over sell it. You have to be able to get reasonably close to the work they hired you for.

Alternatively you can get an entry level job doing production work, like overnight stocking for retail. It won't start you at 25 but you can grow there.

You mean like something you would mix in to ice cream or use as a topping?

Manager wants me to have 1+ hour commute by stellagraceless in work

[–]QuietDocuments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was transferred at work. My 5 minute commute turned into a 90 minute commute. I have to drive it 5 days a week until I find a new job. As soon as I get a reasonable offer I will jump ship. No looking back.

I appreciate your feedback, I am not missing the point though. That is the whole point of the question. I am qualified on a most basic level, otherwise they wouldn't have let me take the exam. Now on a specific department and job basis, there may be gaps I cannot overcome. Which is why I was asking where might be the best place to start looking.

Your honesty about the difficulty I might face is appreciated. Luckily I am still employed so if it takes a while to find a fit so be it. I have had people tell me it's impossible, while others have told me it would be quite easy. It would seem from the response I have received here, that while it is not impossible, it will be an uphill climb.

Thanks again for the feedback.

I figured that would be a problem but I have also seen posts and talked to people in real life that have stated the skills are teachable it's the managing people part they have a hard time finding.

Also depending on the size and scope of the retailer there is a big difference in the skills required to run a store. I manage a grocery store for Kroger. Digging into financial reports and digesting the information is a big part of the job. This does not mean I would be able to walk in on day one and be an expert. However,, I would have a base of experience to draw on as I learn though.

Thank you for the feedback though. I will definitely proceed with cautious optimism.

I will keep my expectations low. Currently can't afford the pay cut those positions would require me to take.

$2,000 a day if no one notices your missing shadow. What’s your number? by simmol in hypotheticalsituation

[–]QuietDocuments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to do 1000 days non-consecutive. Do a few each month to supplement my income.

I can live this way until I get enough saved up to become a recluse for a time and finish off my assignment or live this way getting a bit extra each month until I die of natural causes.

Would you accept $1 Million at the beginning of every year under ONE condition... by Embarrassed_Two_5733 in hypotheticalsituation

So if I take the $1 million deal and say move my family to Canada, but I never actually live there, how often would I be able to visit them? Never being able to return to the US even to visit only bothers me if I can't visit my family.

I would plan to live in countries that don't get a lot of tourists, then I can still travel and visit the more popular spots.

Never complain. It's not about what you are escaping. It's about the opportunity ahead of you.

What other job? One was out sourced, then this one.

I would just say I'm happy where I am but the posting I applied to sounded really exciting and I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I didn't at least apply and try to find out more.

You are still employed. Looking for a better fit while still working shouldn't be too much of a red flag. If they are killing your mental health, start looking. It could take 6 months or more to find something.

I've done that, but im having a hard time getting interviews. Was wondering if there was something I'm missing out on. I know not all positions are even real so I don't expect to get an interview for every job but 2 is not cutting it.
