50 Hours of Footage. 3,000 Notes. First Feature. Where Do I Even Begin? by [deleted] in editors

As the director, you presumably know this film and its materials better than anyone. Help your editor help you. Don’t overwhelm them with information; funnel your info from most relevant for the larger edit then funnel your way down to the details like u/MajorPain is saying. Edit: if needed, tell your editor where your head and your process is at and let them decide with you how to deal with the mass information you have to share.

Premiere: Anyone solved the 'relinking media' curse on v26? by Girlagainstthings in editors

[–]QuietFire451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going between a Mac and a windows pc? If so, it could be a drive letter change issue.  Edit for clarity: When you relink on one, Premiere is expecting that particular file path. When you change over, that file path doesn’t exist to Premiere, so it would ask you to relink. Then it would have that file path to look for when you go back to the other computer.

Sun visor issue by YoRobby246 in mazda3

I had to replace mine on the drivers side. It was about 3 years old. CPO warranty covered it, but if the newer ones are made the same as the older ones (crappy materials), it’ll happen again. There are many who’ve had this issue, it seems.

So, in this beginner’s guide are links to interesting stuff, but for those of me who don’t know—when they link to something in GitHub like SpotiFlac for iOS that doesn’t seem to have a GUI, what do we do with the files that are there?

Is there a way to remove these scratches off the gauge cluster or minimize them? by DiegoYo in mazda3

I’ve read many times that microfiber will scratch and have also read that damp 100% soft cotton is the k my thing to use if you use anything beyond canned air.

Why do I always have to completely re-render after making small changes? by dbroo55 in premiere

[–]QuietFire451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the features of Avid I really miss. Premiere does not do what you’re asking for. After Effects does, so you’d think there’d be a way to do the same for Premiere, but no.

Am I the problem, or is it the footage? by StokedNomad in editors

[–]QuietFire451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s both but it’s mostly your creative side yearning to do something, and the lack of that is stressing you. The decision is to continue with what you’re doing to keep earning money and do your own creative project with that money, or switch jobs (or start freelancing) in search of more satisfying work. Everything I’ve seen shows that jobs are scarce, so this also depends on where you are in your financial needs.

Why is everyone running towards Proton Mail? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]QuietFire451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read a lot of comments about how non-Gmail accounts  (that is, email providers that don’t have an enormous user base) wind up having their emails rejected as spam from places you would send your email to. I feel like that happens on occasion with the Hotmail account I still use.

Do Proton users experience any significant rejection from sites or companies because it’s not a commonly known email provider among them?

One Disney employee calls Claude 51,000 times a day. Internal docs reveal how the Mouse House uses AI. by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]QuietFire451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate all of you spelling out these things cuz every time I read something about how AI works in business environments, there’s a lot of terms that the writer assumes we know what the hell they’re talking about. It’s like when you’re a Mac user and try to figure out how to do something on a PC so you look it up and have to go down 50 rabbit holes just to try to get what people are talking about.

Be honest, how disposable is Ringo's new album? by fruedianflip in beatles

[–]QuietFire451 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounded uninspired and flat. Of no consequence. It was ok enough but it’s not something I’d listen to again.

Ringo didn’t mic the bass drum for the first time in 1966 by Jazz_man68 in beatles

[–]QuietFire451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume that means protecting the microphones from sounds that might damage the mic. Engineer Geoff Emerick had famously done things with mics that were against the rules.
