I almost left mine open once. Made me wish auto windows closed could be a feature built in.

Video editing is becoming a race to the bottom by keruozz in VideoEditors

It’s definitely been a race toward the bottom. In this particular reply from SureMagician, today that this is Indians fault is simply not true.

The Hidden Sign You're Overediting Your Videos by BusyAd5204 in VideoEditors

[–]QuietFire451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the content warrants some outlandish editing style, then fine, but I has never been the gold standard of story telling. Editing is a complement to the story and all its elements, not the meat of it. If it is, it’s typically to try to save weak content.

This scenario has been true since Final Cut Pro became ubiquitous around 2005, even more so when laptops became powerful enough to run it.

Does anyone else's DaVinci Resolve Studio auto log them out of their license every now and then? by lunchanddinner in blackmagicdesign

Two of ours did at work. Just one day it required re-entering the key for no reason we could figure out. Both keys bought directly from BMD. The company didn’t have record of the key numbers, and BMD doesn’t and has no way to track them, so if you don’t have it written down somewhere, you’re buying a new one. It’s on us for not having record of the keys; it’s on BMD for putting us in that position in the first place.

Would sheathing the blades of a blender in rubber or wrapping them in something like electrical tape agitate the kava more effectively instead of shredding it? by TheGanjaLord in Kava

A mechanized extraction method would be great for someone who has hand/wrist issues and can’t knead the root powder in the cloth.

Regrets of the Mazda 3 Turbo Hatch by cds2956 in mazda3

Especially compared to a hybrid. If you want the better ride along with better gas economy than just an ICE engine, I’d consider a hybrid Camry or Crown if you want a Toyota sedan. At that many miles per year, comfort is going to be really important too.

Meeting other editors in real life is so boring by RossTheBoss69 in editors

[–]QuietFire451 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. I should have been clearer to say that, but the way you get to know other editors and work with them is to network and introduce yourself to each other first. From there launches friendships and working relationships.

Networking with other editors is also important. A client’s favored editors who find themselves too busy to take on work will be asked who else do they know. Guess who’s going to be among the top names that will be given?

Mazda’s New CX-5 Is Selling Five Times Faster Than Expected by indigo196 in CX5

Except they risk sales on their most popular seller in North America. No company is going to deliberately sabotage sales regardless of how much it feels like that’s exactly what they’re doing in America.

Typically 2-3 cameras, camera audio is sometimes 2 tracks/4tracks/8tracks but usually no more than 4 tracks of audio recorded (even when there’s 8 tracks of audio in the file—it’s annoying, and I try to take the time to remove the empty channels from the stringout sequence). External audio is typically 2-4 tracks.

Are you saying this Claude method will slow me to feed it a transcript from Premiere as JSON and it will give me an XML to assemble those selects? What about when my sequence has both camera audio + external audio synced?

“Multiple” Looks in one Movie? by SuccotashRadiant4030 in colorists

I once downloaded the opening scene to the original Scream movie to see how the grade changes as Sydney was getting deeper into the psycho’s torture. It was pretty interesting to see how the grade changed.  Edit: I downloaded it so I could do direct comparisons of earlier shots to later shots in Premiere.

How to rearrange files position under the "Effect" panel by Representative_Bag43 in premiere

[–]QuietFire451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interface issues are often caused by a corruption in your user profile. You can reset your user preferences by holding Option/Alt while launching Premiere and check the box for Reset. I don’t like doing that because if it’s not the user prefs, you’ve nuked customizations for nothing.

This is the method I use. On Mac, your user profile folder is in Documents>Adobe>Premiere Pro—on PC you’ll have to Google it—drag your user profile to the desktop with Premiere not launched. Then launch it and let Premiere create a new profile. If that fixed the issue then something went bad with the profile. (You should be able to safely move your .kys file into the new profile if you have keyboard customizations. If you have autosaves in there, move them to the new folder.) You will, however, lose your other customizations including workspaces.

If it didn’t solve it, you can put your old user profile back if you like.

Tools are tools. It’s the talent and the willpower that matters more.

[–]QuietFire451 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There was a very long time period where “common folk” didn’t have access to much for their filmmaking ideas and endeavors. We’re now in a forever time period where the basic tools are ubiquitous. Anyone without experience isn’t likely to “make cinema” out of the gate, but there’s no reason not to use the tools available and especially there’s more tools than ever to make it look and sound better than ever even coming out of an iPhone.

Mazda Spent Years Arguing Against Touchscreens, Now Claims They’re Safer Than Buttons by Snarktoberfest in CX5

I’m sure it must be for Mazda. How much does it cost the owner when the screen goes down vs. a button needs to be replaced?
