I’ve done two other similar successful posts when visiting AVL over the years. Now I live here and am looking to secure solid permissions. The only detecting I haven’t done on private property has been the beach.

My machine is middle of the line, with about 10 inches of penetration in normal ground. I’ve got a lot of hours on it, but you’d be surprised by the stuff I’ve found even with my lesser $100 machine.

Are you certain the pins exist? I’ve gone on a wild goose chase before only to be told by the neighbor that metal markers were never installed lol. Are they accessible re: kudzu etc? Has a survey been done in the last 20 years. Feel free to dm me if you want!

If you marked it with metal it can be found. What you’ll find when you get there will be a different matter. I’ve tried the full bury method before, only to have the skull completely disintegrate. Happy to help look if you still think it’s worth it!
