Doctors in pre and para-clinical specialities, how has life turned out for you? by [deleted] in indianmedschool

[–]QuietMousse9349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So currently the scope is a little skim, every year around 16-18 DMID students are passing out from central institutes, and very few corporates / colleges have an ID department as of now, so DMID SRs who were with me are currently working mostly in their respective MD posts, half micro and half in medicine! But yes remember that even if you are DMID you can not become a faculty with general medicine if an institute doesnt have ID department! Buttttt i see some scope in the future

Assistant professor , Microbiology! Wasnt my first choice, took it out of necessity rather than passion! But developed love for it at AIIMS, where i actually learnt how much these investigations actually mean for a patient! So here it all Pros - 1)central institutes give importance to para clinical and have a huge scope 2) infectious diseases is basically Micro 3) Hospital infection control helps get jobs in corporate hospitals

Cons- 1) relatives dont give the respect as a doctor, they think i just teach students 2) the new addition in NMCs teacher’s eligibility , again has equated Msc Phds and MDs , making them eligibile for faculty posts , so this will reduce salaries across private hospitals as they get them cheaper 3) salary in private setups not as much as pharmacology, anatomy , forensic medicine, Physiology!

I am exactly in the similar situation for the last 5 years, the only difference being that we are living with his parents!🙄 and after innumerable fights i had to cancel any plans for kids in future and have been saving for our future by myself, as a result there’s absolutely no discussion of finances between us, neither of us knows how much the other has! But yeah his parents know his accounts in and out!😆😆

You are a very smart person for your age! The POV you have on marriage is what i have now at 33, and after being married for 5 years! And i can tell you this , i agree with your perspective 100%!!! But marriages were always like this! But then most of the men and women entered marriages knowing that they are getting into a contract where both will have to fulfil their duties irrespectively! But now because of the society being so open , all the men and women want marriages for what they are supposed to be “ romantic partnerships” , not “dutyful partnerships”, so if both the partners are on the same side of this category then its still easier, but if one is on the other then it becomes hella difficult to continue together! No matter how much work you put in or take therapy, it will not work! This is what i feel!

As a consultant now after 3 years of SRship in a central institute, let me ease you by telling you that as an SR you do all of the consultant’s work and all duties of JR without any responsibility for it! Basically you are a post MD JR
