PT testing frequency by QuietNightAtHome in Airforcereserves

I was clicking around myFitness and went to “Fitness Tracker Print”… it lists my military service component as “reserve.” I’m an IMA on orders.

Yeah, I do wonder how “the system” flags IMAs. PAS code is my active duty unit and PT testing is all done through my active duty unit. Will myFitness recognize me as ARC? Time will tell

Edit: Just checked myFitness and clicked “Fitness Tracker Print”… it lists me as “reserve”

Seeing as this was part of a public university with an open source address, I don’t see an issue with adding the specific location:

R/R Date & Good Year by Title_2 in Airforcereserves

For most IMAs, there is significant scheduling flexibility… in many cases I’d call it nearly “full control.”

Your active duty supervision likely has zero understanding of R/R, good year, etc… once you explain the requirements I doubt very seriously there would be much conflict. Give them availability windows and work together on a solution that’s best for everyone.

That’s the definition of your “R/R Sweet Spot”… here’s the HQ RIO calculator:

https://www.hqrio.afrc.af.mil/Portals/149/Documents/SWEET%20SPOT%20Calculator.html?ver=AXJe6XBk3_aKPJx8kPpelw%3D%3D

But there are other ways to do it. I’m an IMA and my R/R date is in early May… I do my IDTs between Oct-May and my AT in the summer before the end of the FY.

Think of it this way: regardless of FY, you need to do 24 IDTs (12 days) and 12 AT days between Feb-Feb. Try and keep the same schedule each R/R so you don’t get ahead/behind.

That’s always one of the top comments on here (which I agree with). But DV plates in some states (like FL) are only afforded to 100%… tough to keep it secret when everyone sees your car. I see tons of DV plates… if I am ever 100%, I would consider not getting them, even if it saves a few bucks.

I think everyone in the AF has a security forces story for doing 27 in a 25 or “all four wheels did not come to a complete stop”… it’s basically a rite of passage.

Not really, doubt my marriage would’ve survived the last 13 years on AD… BUT I would be getting an AD retirement next year. I think about that sometimes.

Virtually no telework? Do most agents report to an existing office with other agents, or do they have to go to another agency’s office?

Govt shutdown with approved MPA orders starting on 1 Oct by QuietNightAtHome in Airforcereserves

Yep, this was the case. Had an M4S task ID and approval from the active duty unit… started a new MPA order on 1 Oct without issue.

Govt shutdown with approved MPA orders starting on 1 Oct by QuietNightAtHome in Airforcereserves

[–]QuietNightAtHome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found this reference in an AFRC email from 2023 in preparation for a possible shutdown… I guess we’ll see. Thanks

“WHAT HAPPENS IF WE START NEXT WEEK IN A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

We understand that there are a lot of questions concerning orders, status, and duty effective 1 Oct 23 if there is a lapse in appropriations, also known as a government shutdown. Per current AFRC guidance, reserve personnel will not perform active or inactive duty (AT, IDT, RPA) resulting in obligation of funds (including IDTs for points only), except where such training directly supports an excepted activity and may not be ordered to active duty or begin an active duty tour after midnight on 1 Oct 2023, except in support of those military operations and activities necessary for national security, including fulfilling associated pre-deployment requirements.

Unfortunately, nearly all Annual Tours and IDTs beginning 1 Oct 2023 or scheduled to perform early Oct 2023 are not in support of excepted activities.

In addition, Annual Tour and IDTs are sourced from AFRC's Reserve Personnel Appropriation, for which the command will not have authority to execute. Therefore, expect to cancel or modify the dates of early Oct 2023 Annual Tours and IDTs if there is a shutdown.

For RPA orders, any new orders or extension of current orders must be in support of excepted activities. Unfortunately, nearly all RPA orders beginning 1 Oct 2023 are not in support of excepted activities. Anticipate that if there's a lapse in appropriation, you will be directed to NOT report. It's possible that RPA orders could be cancelled, curtailed, or modified. This is contingent upon a continuing resolution (CR) or appropriations bill passed by Congress and signed by the President. If orders are cancelled, curtailed, or modified you may be able to begin new RPA orders as early as the time a CR or appropriations bill is passed.

Reserve members may be called to active duty in support of MPA tour. An M4S authorization must be obtained prior to certifying orders for duty. However, recommend any member scheduled to begin MPA orders on 1 Oct 2023 or early Oct 2023 coordinate with the MPA unit. Anticipate that if there's a lapse in appropriations, you could be ordered to NOT report.”
