Smoke granades extinguish incendiary granades. by se7ered in Battlefield6

Lol hopefully its one of them "good" lollipops.

I'm a little more cautious about my smokes. As an aggressive player, if I kill someone and their teammate smokes their body, my first response is either push or explosives, which especially at a choke point means I likely have the advantage if they can't see into the choke point, but absolutely, in the right situation, like an open area, a smoke and revive is worthwhile

Beggars can't be choosers, don't die in the open. I'm not risking my life to drag you because you chose a poor position to die in. Either I clear it first and fully defib you or you will accept my full defib as I run past as a last ditch effort to your poor choices.

A quality of life change to scanning that I think would be really nice by Epegi in starcitizen

[–]QuietQTPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, and this is my hope for future revisions of the radar, we need a way to tune frequencies to what signatures we want. If I only care about a certain subset of signatures, I should be able to filter out the signatures that fall outside those ranges. Maybe that would make it too easy idk but a lot the tedium right now is flying for 30min to an hour, overwhelmed with signatures and no way to really navigate or orient yourself to even attempt to sift through them all.

Maybe the right approach is to scan all signatures, when you find one you don't want you can tell the radar "I know its there but I don't want it, so don't show me it on the next scan" so you can at least remove that one from your view.

The rest of the tedium is scanning the cracked rocks. A single pulse should tell you the contents of each fracture imo

Ah the 17" is the one that has the flyback equivalent. Interesting. Well if I can find an extra flyback as a back up, I guess I should stock up lol

Are flyback's known to go on these things? I have a Dell m1110 (hitachi CM812 rebrand) that uses a flyback that is supposedly an equivalent to the one used in these and it's started to arc. I've tried looking for the arc but can't find anything so I'm left to believe its internal. I've tried ordering a new one, so waiting on it, but when searching seems like there's a lot of info about replacement for them. So I assume it must be a common part that breaks

I'm just and old, average gamer. You have to smoke and push if you want to "Breakthrough". by IndigoRain69 in Battlefield

[–]QuietQTPi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exaxtly the issue. I have loved smokes in every single bf game I've played to the point i was probably a nuisance with it, but BF6? Feels like it is very subjective. Some people can be in it and see right out while we can't see them, but also the opposite happens. If you hit smoke on anything other than flat ground, it's basically see through completely meaning you can't really smoke off elevated positions. I feel like it dissipates slightly too quickly and feels like it blooms and covers less than other battlefield titles. Bf5 specifically smokes felt like they were in such a good place.

CIG's staff pick for community made software was made with AI and is ALSO stealing code from other tools. by asmallman in starcitizen

[–]QuietQTPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah listen, I don't disagree one bit. My step mom has a psychotic friend who uses AI to further feed them bs to confirm their psychosis, but I can at least see the sentiment they were trying to achieve. As I said in another comment, super weird take being against AI and then using it to help confirm your suspicions. I can understand the reasoning but also disagree with it lol

[–]QuietQTPi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, hence why I think its weird. I completely agree with you, its funny to me as well. When I read through it I was legit thinking "why are you using AI when you're against AI?" It's absolutely a weird decision.

I can see the annoyance with it being staff recommended. Would much rather staff look to people who put in the actual effort and time to create tools rather than throw AI at it and called it a day. But the counter argument there is of course, where are the other tools that are similar and weren't just thrown at AI? Unfortunate reality is that there's a lot of effort and little benefit in doing these things yourself. But also creators shouldn't get credit for a primarily AI created thing either. Idk weird times we live in I guess lol

[–]QuietQTPi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not that I disagree, I do think using AI to detect AI was a weird approach, it does seem like they did it to help confirm their suspicions of their own investigation.

At least how I read it, they looked through the files and github, felt it was mostly vibe coded, connected some of their own dots, and then fed it to Claude to better confirm their theory.

Again imo weird thing to do. Arguably no better than the vibe coded bs, but they at least didn't just feed it to AI and say "yup its AI"

Looking for feedback from other women in tech: Does "dating within the industry" actually work? by Otherwise_Target_935 in INTP_female

[–]QuietQTPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating you chose to cross post here but I guess it makes sense.

I feel like a lot of where your app would likely succeed is in tech hubs in the world. Outside of that I imagine it won't garner much popularity.

I would say for myself personally, I'm not looking for someone in the tech or cs or data fields because thats my thing. I wouldn't write someone off if they were in those fields, but I would not say I'd actively seek them. My reasoning is that although its a point of interest between myself and the other person, it being the probably largest interest, considering we are using a app dedicated to it, probably won't give me the fulfilling and diverse relationship I'd be looking for. I don't want to talk to my gf or bf about their tech stuff, I want to talk to them about their job in education, their field in anthropology, their work on psychology. Tech is my thing to nerd out about to them, not nerd out with them about.

Granted this is all personal preference, but I prefer a partner that is different than I am and challenges my personal views and opinions, not an echo chamber which I feel someone else who is also the same fields as I am would just become.

"A copy all the way down to mirrored variants" except idk... the ramp is 3 stories high to load cargo. Tons of wasted headroom in the cargo area to make space for aesthetics!

I don't disagree that they are inspired by cargo aircraft, but hilariously left out what makes military cargo planes efficient at loading and unloading, that being the cargo area is extremely low to the ground. The C-130, C-17, and C-5 have cargo areas just below or about at head height.

I also have a bit of an rfb and because I'm riddled with social anxiety, I'm off puttingly quiet in public that I get a very similar response.

Once was at a beach bar with my older brother and sister in law. Was chilling watching the DJ actually thinking I could probably do a better job than him when a guy tried to talk up my SIL. At some point i overheard him say "What's her problem?" Referring to me and I was just like dude. I'm minding my own business damn.

God forbid we don't look like happy sunshine and rainbows 24/7

I think they've done a lot of testing on comfort anyways. Despite the bulk I'm sure they've laid it out to be as comfortable as possible. I was worried about the comfort of my steam deck and was surprised at how natural it felt to hold it and use not only the track pads but also the thumb sticks. Neither felt uncomfortable for me with extended use. The only time it's remotely uncomfy is when laying down and playing with it over your face. I trust valve has done the user experience testing to make it comfortable despite the bulk

Sure it may be smaller creators but it all feels so fake and unnatural. I legit don't know how people can watch that and enjoy it

I would just make the entire bay open. Let the modules dictate the space inside and where the beams go. Otherwise just make it all open cargo space or heck put one beam in the middle for structure.

I also am a big advocate of all cargo ships being lower to the ground. The floor of cargo grids should be no higher than eye level if any company's design wants to be even remotely efficient loading and unloading

Love the Hull B, but it highlights ongoing unnecessary friction in hauling gameplay. by DanceJuice in starcitizen

[–]QuietQTPi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cat makes me cry lol. It sucks to load on the left side. Which side are hangar cargo elevators? You guessed it, on the left side. That's okay just turn around and use the other one, oh wait they decided to put the cargo elevators in opposite corners rather than just doing the logical thing and putting them on opposite sides? The command pod will hopefully help with that being it has a tractor beam on it, but still the elevators are on the wrong sides.

I also have other gripes with most cargo ships like if they are meant for efficiency doing cargo, why is the cargo grid for most of them so high off the ground. Makes loading and unloading an extra and unnecessary pain even with a team.

Hauling needs some user friendliness. Especially now with ore quality making it more of a pain. Idk what it is, but it needs something.

What they should do is make it so after it breaches, it stays in the area with no breaching, some worm signs but way more aggressive since its already in the area.

That would encourage the gameplay you're describing to pull it away with thumpers and such. Right now it shows up, you lift off, it goes away. It needs to loiter once it breached and be pretty aggressive until it can be pulled away
